Up to three civilians were killed and several were wounded as Zamalaka, eastern Ghouta, Damascus, was subject to air strikes and helicopter bombings, carried out by either Russia, the Assad regime, or both, as reported by local media.
As the shelling of eastern Ghouta continued on Friday, February 23rd, Zamalaka was not excepted from the strikes. Besides from reports about airstrikes, Zaman al-Wasl cited Al-Ghouta Media Center, who said that Zamalaka had been struck by explosive barrels launched by a helicopter.
The death toll spanned from two to three among the reports, the highest reported by LCCSY. From its general reporting from Friday’s shelling of eastern Ghouta, Euphrates Post reported that among the fatalities was a civilian man, Riad Nouh, director of Dar es Salaam school in Zamaleka.
MasarPressNet added that “several” were left wounded.
Most sources, including Ghouta Direct and LCCSY, blamed joint Russian/Assad forces, while MasarPressNet identified Russia as the only culprit.
