Airwars assessment
Local media reported that up to two women and a child died and several other civilians were wounded in an alleged Russian airstrike on Al Mentar village. All sources pointed to Russia.
Shaam News Network said that one woman died, though according to Step News Agency two women and a girl were killed. JisrTV also noted the deaths of “two women and a child”.
@abuhuzaifa_ tweeted a video showing “the moment a child was saved from the rubble of his destroyed home.” The source added that the child survived but his mother – whose body was recovered – died.
Moscow denied carrying out strikes. The Russian Ministry of Defence said: “The information published by a number of Russian media outlets quoting ‘military sources’ about Russian airstrikes on targets in the province of Idlib, does not fully correspond to reality. The Russian space air force has not hit any targets in the area.”
A Syrian Civil Defence team attended the scene of the incident and were then reportedly struck during the rescue operation (see incident R3386 for further details).
The local time of the incident is unknown.
