Airwars assessment
11 civilians including five women and two children were killed and nearly 35 injured in airstrikes on Douma, according to multiple sources. While most sources allege Russia was responsible, one blamed the Assad regime.
The Shaam News Network reported that 10 non-combatants died following raids by Russian warplanes, which also caused considerable damage to residential buildings.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights did not identify the warplanes responsible but said that eight people, including one child and two women, had been confirmed dead while two others had not been identified. It added that the death toll was expected to rise due to the severity of the injuries.
Other sources including the Violations Documentation Center, the Syrian Media Organisation and the White Helmets (who put the death at 10 including two children and four women) blamed Russia. Both the Syrian Media Organisation and the White Helmets posted distressing videos showing children being dug out from the rubble.
However, the Syrian Network for Human Rights said that regime shelling killed at least seven, including one child and four women. And video blogger Yasser al Fawwal filmed victims of what he said were both Russian airstrikes and Assad regime missile strikes.
10 victims were named by the Violations Documentation Centre as well as one Unidentified female adult.
