Airwars assessment
Three to six civilians were reported killed in airstrikes on Heesh, Idlib, on June 20th.
Step News stated that “six civilians – including a child and a woman – were killed, and seven others injured after an airstrike on the town of Heesh, south of Idlib.” Meanwhile, Shaam News, also reporting six civilians slain, alleged that two children had perished in the attack.
Idlib Plus named those killed as Hassan Mohammad Al Sawadi, Mahmoud Mustafa Al Subhi, Muhsin Khalil Sijnawi, and three children Mohammed Adeeb Kashiyma, Jinan Omar Al Shawa and Raghad Omar Al Sahawa.
Syria Civil Defense stated that “Jinan Al Shawa, aged five, was buying bread and ice cream with her sister Raghad and her brother Abdel Razzaq, when the pilot hit them. She and her sister were killed, and her brother injured.”
Two sources attributed the strike to the Syrian regime, whereas three sources named both Russian forces and the Syrian regime in reporting the incident. Thirteen other sources did not positively attribute blame for the attack.
