Up to six civilians were killed in alleged Russian or Syrian regime airstrikes on a residential neighbourhood in Ma’aret al-Nu’man, Idlib governorate, on July 25th, 2019, according to local sources. Up to five others were reported injured.

@HalabTodayTV wrote that: “Two [civilians] were killed and others were wounded as a result of Russian airstrikes on the city of Ma’aret al-Nu’man in the southern countryside of Idlib.”

While Euphrates Post reported that a total of six civilians were killed, several other sources, including Baladi news and the Syrian Civil Defense, put the death toll at two civilians. Euphrates Post claimed that among those killed were children and women. The Syrian Civil Defence, however, reported that the two civilians who were killed were men.

@AlkhaleejOnline tweeted: “Three civilians were killed and many civilians were injured in airstrikes on the city of Ma’aret al-Nu’man in Idlib countryside this morning.” Step News Agency also put the death toll at three civilians.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights identified the victims as Abdullah Al Jedi and his son Faris after “fixed-wing warplanes we believe were Russian fired several missiles on Ma’aret al-Nu’man city in Idlib governorate southern suburbs, on July 25, 2019.”

Four civilians were reported wounded by Baladi News while the Syrian Civil Defence claimed there were five civilians injured.

@barakatalyousif wrote that there had been “more than seven warplanes in the airspace of Idlib countryside and Hama countryside, reaching as far as Dana in the north.”

While most the sources blamed Russia for the strikes on Ma’aret al-Nu’man, a few others, including Euphrates Post and @Arabi21News, pointed to the Syrian regime as the responsible belligerent.
