Two to three civilians, including at least one woman, were killed and nine civilians, including five children and two women, were injured in alleged Russian airstrikes on the town of Shannan, Idlib governorate, on November 12th, 2019, according to local sources.
Idlib Plus reported that “three civilians, including a woman, were killed and nine others, including five children and two women, were injured as a result of Russian warplanes bombing civilian houses in Shannan village”. The director of the Civil Defense Center in the village, Subhi Ibrahim, told Smart News Agency the same numbers, and spoke of “two simultaneous raids”.
MMC identified Mousa Deeb Al Mousa as one of the killed civilians and a Facebook post by Jameel Alhasan identified Muhammad al-Musa as being killed. Jameel Alhasa also reported that they are brothers and they were “assisting their families to sell bread on the Kafr Nabl roundabout under bombardment to help their sick father for many years.” Syria.violations.monitoring that Muhammad was from Qurayk Kafr Nabl and had fled to Shannan after Russian and regime strikes on the town.
A tweet from @abmualsu stated “two martyrs and a number of wounded, as a result of targeting civilian homes in the town of Shannan, south of Idlib, with vacuum missiles.”
According to @NEDAAPOST, the airstrikes “killed 3 civilians, including two women, and injured 9 others.”
Syrian Civil Defence teams were able to rescue two children and a woman from underneath the rubble, according to the SCD on Facebook.
All of the sources that reported on the culprit of the airstrikes identified Russia as being responsible while a few sources, including @abmualsu, did not identify whether Russia or the regime were responsible.
The incident occured in the afternoon.
