Airwars assessment
Up to two civilians were reported killed and others were wounded in alleged Russian airstrikes on the town of Ma’arat Al Nassan, Idlib governorate, on February 19th, 2020, according to local sources.
@SyrianCoalition reported that two men were killed in the airstrikes while @HalabTodayTV identified the two civilians killed as being a man as his wife, killed while they were trying to move their house furniture. According to Enab Baladi News, “the family had been displaced from the southeastern countryside of Idlib to Maarat al-Naasan and had moved their house furniture there, but the advance of the regime forces forced them to flee without furniture to safer areas.”
A local source told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that a civilian was killed as a result of Russian air strikes on houses in the town of Maarat Al-Naasan in the eastern Idlib countryside.
Al-Jisr correspondent added that “others” were wounded but did not specify how many.
According to the Local Coordination Committees of Syria, the airstrike occurred at 2:02 PM.
@la1mea reported that no one could enter the town due to the intensity of the bombing and reconnaissance.
All of the sources that reported on the incident attributed the airstrikes to Russia. @IdlibPlus identified vacuum missiles as being used in the attack.
The incident occured at approximately 2:02 pm local time.
