An explosion of a cluster bomb remnant reportedly left from previous shelling by the Russian military and/or the Syrian regime forces and/or the Nusayri regime militias affiliated with the Syrian regime resulted in the killing of a young civilian man on the agricultural land in the outskirts of Badama (Bdama) town located in the western Idlib countryside, on Saturday, July 27th, 2024.
Mohammed Ahmed Qaddour was working on agricultural land when he was killed by a cluster bomb explosion, a tragedy caused by unexploded ordnance. He was a young man with a brown beard, short curly brown hair, and dark eyes, and was wearing a black shirt with white printing, as posted in one of the photos by the @SN4HR Twitter/X account.
The body of the victim was retrieved by three SCD (“White Helmets”) volunteers, put on a stretcher, and transferred to the Ain al-Bayda hospital, as reported through multiple videos and photos posted by the Syrian Civil Defense (SCD) Twitter/X account.
The SCD warned about the danger of war remnants that increased during summer and agricultural harvest seasons and threatened the lives of kids and civilians in northwest Syria. When the incident happened, the team led by Hasan Darwesho was actively destroying the deadly remnants as evidenced by a video shared on Facebook.
The belligerents that were held responsible for the attack by the sources were mainly the Russian military and/or the Syrian regime Forces. Facebook user Nour al Ajamme claimed that the belligerent was the Nusayri regime militia associated with the Syrian government, but the rest of the sources did not provide further details regarding this information.
Based on the different attributions of the strike by the sources, Airwars has graded both Strike Status and Civilian Harm Status as Contested.
