On Wednesday, November 27th, 2024, by missile strikes carrying cluster bombs with contested responsibility allegedly perpetrated by the Syrian regime forces and/or the Russian military, a young boy was killed and between three and five civilians, including at least two children and a woman, were injured in Al-Qura camp (Wadi Abbas) near Babsqa and Bab al-Hawa, in Idlib governorate, Syria.

An initial tweet via Twitter/X by the Syrian Network for Human Right Watch (@snhr) reported that Syrian Regime forces have “fired rockets carrying cluster munitions” on the Al-Qura camp causing the death of one child and seriously injuring 5 civilians (3 children and 2 women). Later, the source in a post via Facebook identified the victim as Ibrahim al-Diban and reported that there was “material damage to several tents and cars.” The tweet included an image of a large hole in the ceiling of a sitting area.

The Twitter/X’s account of Syrian Civil Defense (@SyriaCivilDefe), also known as “White Helmets”, provided a similar civilian harm toll that one child was killed and five other civilians were injured, some seriously, and claimed that Syrian Regime forces and Russian Military had used “missiles carrying cluster bombs on Al-Qura camp.”

The Civil Defense Idlib, in an emotional message on Facebook, reported that a child named “Fayyad” was injured while he was playing “along with two children and two women” and added an image of a young boy with visible injuries to his face and a head wound bandage. Additional images posted by the Civil Defense Idlib also showed damage to a vehicle, a stone wall, and a tent.

Halab Today TV and Atarab estimated the number of injured at three (two children and a woman), but referred to this as the “initial toll”.

While the Syrian Network for Human Rights identified the Syrian regime as being responsible for the artillery shelling, the Syrian Civil Defense attributed the missile strikes to the Syrian regime and the Russian military.
