On April 14th, 2024, at 6:30 Thursday evening a man, father of three kids, was killed by a drone strike on a vehicle reportedly perpetrated by Turkish forces in the Sidkan District in Erbil Governorate. It is contested whether the man killed was a civilian or a member of the Peshmerga.

The victim was Sorour Qader, a 34-46 year old father of three kids and resident of the Sheikh Rashha village. He was in a Toyota pick-up truck when the bomb struck the vehicle during the evening. The next day, Friday morning at 5:30 am, the incident was reported and the body was later transferred by forensic services. Alarabyia media disclosed the strike was carried out by a drone.

A photo of Sorour Qader where he is wearing a green buttoned long sleeve shirt with pockets in the chest and black square print in the torso. He had no beard, thin lips, curly black short hair, small black eyes and a long nose. Another photo of presumably his daughter and a wife crying was posted too.

According to Al Rafidain new media, the health director of the town of Sidkan Karwan Faisal the victim was allegedly a Peshmerga member, a soldier. However, a Facebook post from Community Peacemaker Teams referred to the man killed as a civilian.

All sources identified the Turkish military as the perpetrator of the strike.
