Up to eight civilians including children and women died, and five more were wounded in an alleged Turkish bombing of Afrin city centre, according to sources on the ground in Syria.

ANF reported: “According to local sources, another civilian was killed and five were wounded in Turkish bombing on Thursday.  Five injured were identified.”

Hawar also named the above victims and injured and added that one civilian was killed.

But in a later report, it put the death toll at three children and two women.

The Smart news agency reported at least eight killed in the Ashrafieh neighbourhood.

One source tweeted an image of a boy who alleged drowned running away from the sound of the planes. The tweet translated as “Today – one of the victims in Afrin, What is this child guilty of?, Afraid he didn’t know what to do when the plane flew over our village, Afraid he didn’t know where to go so he went running to the water well and drowned, What is he guilty of?, What are the kids guilty of that they deserve to be scared?”
