Airwars assessment
Up to 21 civilians including five children died and as many of 45 were injured in alleged Turkish shelling of Afrin city centre, according to local media.
IC Afrin indicated the death count at 20 reporting that the Turkish army is shelling everywhere in Afrin city and its surroundings.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned from a number of reliable sources that Turkish warplanes targeted Afrin city during the past few hours [March 16th]. The targeting of Afrin has continued since last night, by the Turkish forces and warplanes, which resulted in the fall of tens of casualties and wounded. The Observatory has documented the death of 18 citizens including 5 children while more than 45 others were injured with varying severity, and others are still missing, with bodies trapped under the rubble.
ANF recorded the death toll as at 21. Six named were identified. Additionally, 29 were identified as injured.
