On Wednesday, January 24th, 2024, a child and a 24-year-old farmer named Marouf Khalil Muhammad were injured due to an alleged artillery attack by the Turkish military. Reportedly, the farmer was injured in his leg and/or foot while he was working on his land in the village of Qarmug (Qarmogh), east of the city of Kobani in the Euphrates District in northern Syria, in the governorate of Aleppo.

Facebook user Haval Sido shared an image of Marouf, a young bearded man in a pullover lying on a hospital bed. Kobanê fm interviewed the victim. He told about the circumstances of his injury: “My name is Marouf Khalil Muhammad. I am 24 years old from the village of Qarmug. I heard the sound of fire explosions. A child close to me was injured, and I felt that I was injured due to Turkey’s bombing.”

Referring to a village resident Haqqi Masto, Bisher Xlil reported that Marouf “[…] was working on his land near the Turkish border when a Turkish shell hit him, injuring his foot. He was then transferred to Kobani Hospital for treatment.” The man was reportedly in a stable condition. Airwars was not able to find more information about the child’s injury.
