Two civilian men, an elderly father and his 40-year-old son, were seriously injured in an artillery shelling allegedly perpetrated by the Turkish military forces in the village of Binah, in the Shirawa countryside, in Afrin, Syria, just before noon on the 31st of July, 2024.

Hawar News reported that two civilians were injured due to Turkish shelling which was ongoing at the time, leaving both “seriously injured.” Both men were transferred to the hospital for treatment.

Initially, Rohani News reported that there was a child among the injured. However, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that the injured civilians were a man in his 70s and his 40-year-old son.

Rohani News identified one of the civilians, the elderly father, as Muhammad Abdul Rahim Ghabari. The source reported that the other injured civilian was his son Muhammad Abdul Ghabari. According to SOHR, Muhammad Abdul Ghabari was 40 years old. ANF news shared a picture of the younger Muhammad in hospital with a severely injured leg and arm covered in bandages and blood.

Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to the Turkish military. According to SOHR, the shelling was allegedly launched from Turkish bases in the town of Jilbar in the Shirawa district in the Afrin countryside.
