On Thursday, August 29th, 2024, one civilian was killed and two civilians, including a woman, were injured in an alleged drone attack by the Turkish military. The strike reportedly hit the Al-Makasin neighbourhood in the eastern part of Amuda city in the countryside of Al-Hasakah, Syria, inflicting damage to the electricity network and local grocery shops.

A 35-year-old man Hani Khalaf was killed as a result of the strikes. Khalaf was transported to the hospital in the city of Qamishli, but succumbed to his severe injuries before arrival, according to Hawar News. Hawar and ANF News shared an image of the man lying on a hospital bed with his face blurred – reportedly depicting the late Hani Khalaf.

It was widely reported by Hawar News and other sources that two other civilians were injured in the attack. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that one injured civilian was female, however, there was no additional confirmation of this. SOHR also stated that the civilians were injured near a car.

Roj News Agency shared two images showing the electric distribution pole that had been damaged and had fallen on the ground.

Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to the Turkish military.
