On Saturday, October 26, 2024, a woman, identified as Shamsa Nawaf al-Qannas, aged 30, was injured as a result of an alleged Turkish artillery strike hitting the Agricultural Bank in the village of Al-Aghibish, located in the western countryside of Tal Tamr, northern Syria. She sustained shrapnel wounds to her lower right limb and was rushed to a hospital in Hasakah for urgent treatment.
Hawarnews reported: “The Turkish occupation forces targeted civilian areas, causing injuries to non-combatants. Medical sources confirmed that Shamsa Nawaf al-Qannas suffered shrapnel injuries from the shelling.” The media outlet also shared a picture related to the event. The image showed a woman lying on a flat surface, such as a stretcher or board, with two individuals standing beside her. She was wearing a long pink dress adorned with yellow butterfly patterns, and her head was covered with a matching pink scarf. Her eyes were closed, and her expression appeared calm or unresponsive, suggesting she might have been unconscious or injured.
One individual, wearing a gray shirt with a black and white patterned scarf, stood on her right side and appeared to be holding her gently, possibly to stabilize her. Another individual, partially visible and dressed in a green shirt beneath a dark jacket, was positioned near her head, placing a supportive hand on her arm.
Social media sources, including Facebook user Ela Hiso, shared posts emphasizing the civilian harm caused by the attack.
Where the sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed responsibility for the attack to the Turkish military.
