At 6 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, a father was killed alongside his two daughters, and their mother and the other five children of the family were injured in an alleged Turkish airstrike on their house in the village of Masrab, affiliated with the city of Sarrin in the countryside of Ain al-Arab (Kobani), east of Aleppo, Syria.
According to Hawar News, 37-year-old Ismail Hussein Mustafa was killed alongside his two daughters, 12-year-old Fatima Ismail Mustafa and 13-year-old Aisha Ismail Mustafa. His wife (whose name is unknown) was injured along with their five children: 10-year-old son Hussein Ismail Mustafa, eight-year-old daughter Kholoud Ismail Mustafa, five-year-old Iman Ismail Mustafa, two-year-old son Ali Ismail Mustafa, and one-year-old daughter Bahriya Ismail Mustafa. Multiple sources reported that the injured children and their mother were taken to a hospital for treatment.
ANF News and other sources shared a collage of images showing the children injured. One of the images showed a boy, apparently a 10-year-old Hussein, who was lying on a hospital bed dressed in a striped white and brown T-shirt. His stomach was exposed and scratches were visible on it. Two other images showed a girl with messy hair in a black turtleneck and a small child, probably two-year-old Ali, dressed in a rosa pullover and grey trousers. One more image shared an infant girl, Bahriya, in light-green clothes, wrapped in a fleece blanket.
The North Press Agency shared an additional image, showing a wound on the head of an infant. The image was blurred due to its graphic nature.
Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the airstrike to the Turkish military.
