The civilians were reportedly protesting against the ongoing Turkish attacks in the region. According to Basnews, civilians were invited by the Democratic Union Party (PYD) administration.
The Facebook accounts of ANHA News and Kobani al-Hadath, as well as Hawar News, identified one of the deceased as 65-year-old Muhammad Shafiq Ismail (Abu Ramo) from the village of Mustafawiyya, affiliated with the city of Kirkuk (Karki Laki), where he was a member of the Health Committee.
