On Thursday evening, 6 February 2025, a Turkish drone allegedly struck a civilian convoy of protesters from Kobani heading to the Tishreen Dam, south of Manbij in the Aleppo countryside of Syria. The strike reportedly injured 14 civilians, including at least two women.

Early reports from Hawar News, ANF, Ronahi TV, and Alyaum TV put the initial injury figure at three civilians after a Turkish occupation drone hit the protesters as they demonstrated to “protect the dam and condemn the occupation’s attacks.” Later that evening, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and Kobani al-Hadath raised the toll to 14 injured, stating that the attack had targeted a “popular convoy from Kobani heading to the dam in support of the Syrian Democratic Forces.” Those wounded were transferred to hospitals in Tabqa and Raqqa for treatment.

Facebook account Kobani. Al Hadath provided the names of 14 civilians who had been injured in the strike: Ibrahim Khalaf Mustafa, Zainab Khalil, Halima Ibrahim Mustafa, Najah Mustafa Muhammad, Haifa Rasho Hassan, Jihan Osman, Muhammad Farhan Ali, Sabry Mustafa, Omar Abdi, Khaled Ali Abbas, Muhammad Jumaa Al-Alawi, Ahmad Zayer, Islam Muhammad, and Ibrahim Matin.

Fox Press added that two women and one man were among the injured, and that this was the ninth such drone attack on civilian protesters at Tishreen Dam since early January.

Posts by Kobani al-Hadath and ANF News shared the images of the wounded civilians. A middle-aged woman dressed in a black T-shirt and a checkered fleece shirt was showing a victory sign with her right hand. Her chin and part of her cheek were bandaged. An elderly woman wearing an embroidered dress and a dark red headscarf was lying on a bed, showing a victory sign with two hands. Lastly, an elderly man with grey hair and a grey mustache wearing black clothes and a checkered scarf was sitting on a hospital bed. Additionally, another post by Kobani al-Hadath showed an image of two middle-aged men who were also described as injured, although the images did not show apparent injury signs.

Where sources identified the perpetrator, all attributed responsibility to the Turkish military. The incident was part of the continued escalation of Turkish air and drone operations against civilian convoys and workers around Tishreen Dam.
