Airwars Assessment
A 30-year-old man with the family name Al-Zaidat was killed by an alleged Turkish drone on the afternoon of Monday, March 24, 2025, while riding his motorcycle on the outskirts of the village of Khirbet Jamous, in the countryside of Al-Hasakah, northeastern Syria.
Most sources described Al-Zaidat as a civilian. Euphrates Post reported that he worked in a grocery store and that he was killed after returning to the area where an earlier explosion had occurred. According to their account, as he approached to see what had happened, the drone returned and hit the area again, killing him instantly. However, Al-Haskawyia claimed that he was a PKK leader, killed by a precision strike. Given this information, Airwars considers him a contested civilian until further information comes to light.
A video shared on social media shows Al-Zaidat lying on the ground covered with a blanket, surrounded by shocked bystanders. Another image, published by Rojava Post on Facebook, showed a damaged motorcycle lying on a dirty road, consistent with the reports of the incident location.
A Facebook post by Euphrates Post contained an image of the victim, who was a young man with black hair and a trimmed black beard, wearing a dark-green pullover and a dark jacket.
All available sources attributed responsibility to the Turkish military. No additional civilian or material losses were reported.
