Last Updated: September 11, 2025

On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at least two civilians, including a young man and a 14-year-old child named Suleiman Mazen al-Akash, were injured an alleged Syrian Democratic Forces shooting incident while they were on the right bank of the Euphrates River in the Jarablus area, east of Aleppo, Syria.

Sources, including the Syrian Civil Defence, said that Suleiman Mazel al-Akash had been injured in the neck, and photos posted by user @Taolad on Facebook and @Tajmoaa showed a child in a hospital bed with covered wounds on the right part of his neck and most of his chest.

The Syrian Civil Defence said that due to the “continued shooting from the left bank of the Euphrates River”, their team was not able to reach the two civilians, and they were instead taken out of the incident area by a local resident who transferred the child to the Jarabulus Hospital to be treated. The young man, whose injuries were “minor” according to several sources, was then taken care of by the Syrian Civil Defence ambulance team, who transferred him to the nearby hospital as well.

As all possible belligerents mentioned by local sources are Kurdish-affiliated militias, Airwars has graded the strike status as “likely strike.”
