Israeli occupation forces killed 244 Palestinians and wounded nearly 400 others, including a large number of children and women, on Saturday, June 8, 2024, during a large-scale ground and air assault on the Nuseirat refugee camp and the central Gaza Strip. The 75-minute attack involved the massive use of lethal firepower in a densely populated area, with no regard for civilian casualties, as part of a "special military operation" to rescue four of their captives.
According to information available to our researchers, at approximately 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 8, an Israeli special forces unit infiltrated the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip using two civilian vehicles, one a Cadillac and the other a large truck. These forces raided two houses in Block 5 of the camp. Shortly afterward, the occupation forces launched a ground assault on the camp from three directions with a large number of tanks. The Abu Assi station southeast, the Wadi Bridge area northeast of the camp, and the Mughraqa and New Camp areas north of the camp were targeted. Simultaneously, Israeli warplanes directly bombed five houses in the camp, burying their inhabitants alive, while also launching intense airstrikes and shelling in Block 5, the Hasayna area, and the New Camp. Hundreds of thousands of displaced people continue to suffer due to the lack of basic necessities, the cessation of aid, and the collapse of the health system.

Our organizations warn the international community, particularly the permanent members of the Security Council, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, and the High Commissioner for Human Rights, of the gravity of the situation in the Gaza Strip. We urge them to take immediate measures to ensure the protection of hundreds of civilians in the Gaza Strip and to impose an immediate ceasefire. We also call upon third-party states to uphold their legal responsibility to end the impunity of the occupying power by halting the supply of weapons and ammunition to Israel and holding accountable those responsible for war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide.
Our organizations warn Israel’s partners in genocide, whether through their unlimited military and political support for the occupying power or their silence, and demand that they fulfill their legal obligations before it is too late. We urge them to take concrete steps to protect Palestinian civilians, stop the mass killings, and prevent the completion of the ongoing genocide, now in its ninth month.

قتلت قوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلي 244 فلسطينيا وأصابت نحو 400 آخرين، وبين الضحايا عدد كبير من الأطفال والنساء، يوم السبت، 8 يونيو/حزيران 2024، خلال هجوم عسكري واسع عبر البر والجو على مخيم النصيرات وعموم وسط قطاع غزة، استمر 75 دقيقة، في توظيف هائل للقوة النارية المميتة في وسط منطقة مكتظة بالسكان والنازحين ودون اعتبار وقيمة لما يمكن أن يطالهم، خلال تنفيذها "عملية عسكرية" خاصة لتخليص 4 من محتجزيها.

وحتى وقت إعداد هذا البيان، تواصل قوات الاحتلال قصفها الجوي والبري والبحري على جميع أنحاء قطاع غزة، ما يُوقع مزيداً من الضحايا ويتسبب بتدمير المباني والبنى التحتية، مع استمرار معاناة مئات آلاف النازحين والنازحات جراء انعدام مقومات الحياة وتوقف المساعدات وانهيار النظام الصحي.
وتؤكد مؤسساتنا_ المركز الفلسطيني لحقوق الإنسان، مركز الميزان لحقوق الإنسان، ومؤسسة الحق_ أن هذه العملية نموذج لانتهاك قوات الاحتلال مبدأ التناسب والضرورة، وتعبير صارخ عن استهانتها بحياة آلاف المدنيين الفلسطينيين، بالنظر إلى سياستها المتبعة حتى الآن باستباحة المدنيين/ات، وتحويلهم إلى أهداف مشروعة في إطار الانتقام والضغط السياسي، وضمن جريمة الإبادة الجماعية.
تحذر مؤسساتنا المجتمع الدولي، خصوصاً الأعضاء الدائمون في مجلس الأمن والأمين العام للأمم المتحدة والمدعي العام للمحكمة الجنائية الدولية والمفوض السامي لحقوق الإنسان، من خطورة الوضع القائم في قطاع غزة وتطالبهم باتخاذ تدابير فورية لضمان حماية مئات المدنيين والمدنيات في قطاع غزة، وفرض وقف فوري لإطلاق النار في قطاع غزة. كما نطالب الدول الأطراف الثالثة بالالتزام بمسؤوليتها القانونية لوضع حد لحصانة دولة الاحتلال وذلك من خلال وقف تزويد إسرائيل بالسلاح والذخيرة، ومحاسبة مرتكبي جرائم الحرب والجرائم ضد الإنسانية وجريمة الإبادة الجماعية
وتحذر مؤسساتنا شركاء إسرائيل في جريمة الإبادة الجماعية، سواء بدعمهم العسكري والسياسي غير المحدود لدولة الاحتلال أو بصمتهم، وتطالبهم بالوفاء بالتزاماتهم القانونية قبل فوات الأوان، وتطالبهم باتخاذ خطوات عملية لحماية المدنيين/ات الفلسطينيين/ات ووقف عمليات القتل الجماعي ومنع استكمال جريمة الإبادة الجماعية المستمرة التي دخلت شهرها التاسع.
