Palestinian journalist Ismail Abu Hatab was killed on Monday evening as a result of an Israeli airstrike on the Al-Baqa rest house west of Gaza City. The attack, according to a preliminary toll, resulted in the deaths of 24 people, in addition to the injury of a journalist and several civilians.

Consistent local and medical sources confirmed that journalist Abu Hatab was killed as a result of an Israeli attack on the Al-Baqa rest house west of Gaza City.

In a statement received by the Palestinian Information Center, the Government Media Office condemned the systematic assassination of Palestinian journalists by the occupation, calling on the International Federation of Journalists, the Arab Journalists Union, and all journalistic bodies worldwide to condemn these systematic crimes against Palestinian journalists and media professionals in the Gaza Strip.

The statement held "the occupation, the US administration, and countries complicit in the crime of genocide, such as the United Kingdom, Germany, and France, fully responsible for committing this heinous, brutal crime."

He called on the international community, international organizations, and organizations involved in journalism and media work in all countries of the world to condemn the crimes of the occupation, deter it, prosecute it in international courts for its ongoing crimes, and bring the occupation's criminals to justice.

With the martyrdom of fellow journalist Abu Hatab, the number of journalists martyred since the beginning of the genocidal war in the Gaza Strip has risen to 228.

For its part, the Palestinian Journalists Forum mourned journalist Ismail Abu Hatab, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike on the "Al-Baqa" rest house on Gaza City's beach. Journalist Bayan Abu Sultan was also injured in the same airstrike, and journalist Muhammad Skeik was injured in an earlier bombing at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the central Gaza Strip.

The Journalists Forum denounced the international silence and inability to protect Palestinian journalists and enable them to perform their professional duties in accordance with international laws and humanitarian conventions.

The occupation forces continue their fierce, aggressive war on the Gaza Strip, while continuing to target civilians and commit massacres against the starving.

استشهد الصحفي الفلسطيني إسماعيل أبو حطب، مساء اليوم الاثنين، جراء قصف نفذته طائرات الاحتلال الإسرائيلي على استراحة “الباقة” غرب مدينة غزة، والذي أسفر عن ارتقاء 24 شهيدًا – وفق حصيلة أولية – إضافة إلى إصابة صحفية وعدد من المدنيين بجروح متفاوتة.

وأكدت مصادر محلية وطبية متطابقة، أن الصحفي “أبو حطب” ارتقى إثر استهداف إسرائيلي على استراحة “الباقة” غرب مدينة غزة.


وأدان “الإعلامي الحكومي” في بيان وصل المركز الفلسطيني للإعلام، اغتيال الاحتلال للصحفيين الفلسطينيين بشكل ممنهج، داعيًا الاتحاد الدولي للصحفيين، واتحاد الصحفيين العرب، وكل الأجسام الصحفية في كل دول العالم إلى إدانة هذه الجرائم الممنهجة ضد الصحفيين والإعلاميين الفلسطينيين في قطاع غزة.

وحمّل البيان “الاحتلال والإدارة الأمريكية والدول المشاركة في جريمة الإبادة الجماعية مثل المملكة المتحدة بريطانيا، وألمانيا، وفرنسا؛ نحملهم المسؤولية الكاملة عن ارتكاب هذه الجريمة النَّكراء الوحشية”.


وطالب المجتمع الدولي والمنظمات الدولية والمنظمات ذات العلاقة بالعمل الصحفي والإعلامي في كل دول العالم إلى إدانة جرائم الاحتلال وردعه وملاحقته في المحاكم الدولية على جرائمه المتواصلة وتقديم مجرمي الاحتلال للعدالة.

وباستشهاد الزميل الصحفي “أبو حطب” يرتفع عدد الصحفيين الشهداء منذ بدء حرب الإبادة الجماعية في قطاع غزة إلى 228 صحفيًا.

بدوره، نعى منتدى الإعلاميين الفلسطينيين، الصحفي إسماعيل أبو حطب، الذي ارتقى بغارة إسرائيلية على استراحة “الباقة” على شاطئ مدينة غزة، كما أصيبت الصحفية بيان أبو سلطان بنفس الغارة، وأصيب الصحفي محمد سكيك بقصف سابق في مستشفى شهداء الأقصى وسط قطاع غزة.

واستنكر “منتدى الإعلاميين”، الصمت والعجز الدوليين عن حماية الصحفيين الفلسطينيين، وتمكينهم من أداء واجبهم المهني وفقًا للقوانين الدولية والمواثيق الإنسانية.


وتُواصل قوات الاحتلال حربها العدوانية الشعواء على قطاع غزة، تزامنًا مع استمرار استهداف المدنيين وارتكاب مجازر بحق المجوّعين.
