The Government Media Office in the Gaza Strip announced today the martyrdom of journalist Ismail Abu Hatab, bringing the number of media professionals killed since the beginning of the war on the Strip to 228. Abu Hatab was a prominent photographer who collaborated with several local and international media outlets and had previously organized photo exhibitions outside Palestine to highlight the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza. In an official statement, the Media Office affirmed that the targeting of Palestinian journalists is part of a systematic policy pursued by the Israeli occupation to obscure the crimes committed against civilians. The statement also strongly condemned the continued targeting and killing of journalists, considering it a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and freedom of journalism. The statement called on the International Federation of Journalists, the Federation of Arab Journalists, and all press unions and associations worldwide to condemn these crimes and stand with Palestinian media professionals. The media office also held the Israeli occupation and its supporting countries, primarily the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France, fully responsible for what it described as crimes of genocide against civilians and media professionals in the Gaza Strip. The media office called on the international community and human rights organizations concerned with press freedom to prosecute the perpetrators of these crimes in international courts and to take urgent action to halt the aggression and protect Palestinian journalists. The statement concluded by offering condolences to the family of the martyr and all journalistic families, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured media workers.

And never think that those who have been killed in the cause of Allah are dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, and they are provided for. The martyr Sama Muhammad Abu Namous, ascended today in the Al-Baqa Rest House massacre - Gaza. Sama dreamed of a simple future. She carried in her heart the innocence of life and in her eyes a look that never quite told its full story. Sama, who had only written small dreams in her notebook, was targeted while still in the prime of her life. She was neither carrying a weapon nor threatening anyone, but she was born in Gaza, and that was enough to condemn her to death. We offer our condolences to her parents, our brother Dr. Abu Bakr Mohammed Oda Abunamous, her mother, our cousin, the sons of Abu Bakr Abunamous, her grandmother, her grandfather, her aunt, and everyone who loved Sama. They will never forget her voice or her laughter. We offer our condolences to her hearts, which are broken every day by the loss of their loved ones. God Almighty says: "And give good tidings to the patient, who, when disaster strikes them, say, 'Indeed we belong to God, and indeed to Him we will return.'" وَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ قُتِلُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ أَمْوَاتًا بَلْ أَحْيَاءٌ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ يُرْزَقُونَ الشهيدة سما محمد أبو ناموس ، ارتقت اليوم في مجزرة استراحة الباقة – غزة سما كانت تحلم بمستقبل بسيط، تحمل في قلبها براءة الحياه وفي عينيها نظرة لم تُكمل حكايتها.سما التي لم تكتب في دفترها إلا الأحلام الصغيرة، استُهدفت وهي في عمر الزهور، لم تكن تحمل سلاحًا، ولا تهدد أحدًا، لكنها وُلدت في غزة وهذا كان كافيًا ليحكموا عليها بالموت. نُعزّي والديها اخونا الدكتور Dr-AbuBaker Mohammed Oda Abunamous ووالدتها بنت العم ابناء ابوبكر ابوناموس وجدتها وجدها وخالتها وكل من احب سما الذين لن ينسوا صوتها ولا ضحكتها، ونواسي قلوبنا التي تتكسر كل يوم بفقد الأحبة قال تعالى: "وَبَشِّرِ الصَّابِرِينَ، الَّذِينَ إِذَا أَصَابَتْهُم مُّصِيبَةٌ قَالُوا إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ" اللهم تقبلها في الشهداء واربط على قلب أمها وأبيها واحبابها واجعلها شفيعة لهم يوم لا ينفع مال ولا بنون.

You went out looking for food, but treachery lurked. You were stronger than your father and braver than your brothers. How I wished to see you as a bride and embrace you. And let you travel the whole world. My only one and my joy, my tenderness. My good heart, you left, my beloved!!! How could it be easy for you, O missile, to tear apart her delicate body? How did this delicate soul endure all this pain? We see your eyes like sunlight, and my sky has become without a sky. Oh grave, I beg you to embrace her gently. How often I used to tell you, O pulse of my heart, I ask God to take from my life and give you. My little girl was a piece of heaven, and she returned to it, leaving my heart alone. Here our journey in this world ends. Life has no taste after you, and there is no need for joy. God chose you, my most precious possession. How wonderful you are. And I trust that you are honest. I do not vouch for anyone before God, for you were pious and pure. Oh my Lord, I entrust her to you until we meet again. In one of the most brutal and bloody examples of contradiction, a recreational area on Gaza City's beachfront was transformed into the scene of a new massacre, dubbed the "Al-Baqa Cafeteria Massacre." This massacre documented a major shock to the Gazan psyche: a place originally intended as a haven of respite from the pressures of war and siege was transformed in an instant into a scene of devastation and a bloody memory that will never be erased from the memory of the besieged city. The people in the cafeteria were displaced people fleeing the ongoing bombardment, journalists seeking to document the suffering of the people, and students searching for a signal to reassure their families that they were still alive. But the missile that targeted the place closed all doors, redefining life and death in the Gazan way: where there is no safe place and no time for a truce. As images of blood and torn remains on the beach spread, a wave of shock and deep sadness swept social media. Thousands of activists and bloggers reacted to this horrific crime, questioning the magnitude of the contradiction between two words that cannot be combined in the same place: "massacre" and "cafeteria." One blogger said: "Consider the magnitude of the contradiction between the two words: 'massacre' and 'cafeteria.' Who would have imagined that a cafeteria, originally intended for entertainment and enjoyment off the beach, would one day turn into a pool of human blood, with torn remains swimming in it?" Another activist wrote: "The Al-Baqaa Cafeteria was not just a rest stop; it was a safe haven, our only outlet where we could gather as if it were our home. Unfortunately, this place has been transformed into a slaughterhouse, a graveyard, and a place of mass death." Another added: "In Gaza, even the beach is no longer safe; even the sea has become a place of death." The sand and the sea are witnesses to the tragedy. Others considered that on the beach, where families flee from death for a breath of life, the occupation committed a full-fledged massacre. One blogger said: "The sand was laughing under the children's feet, and the water healed their fear for a moment, then the missile came, and the rest area was filled with blood, not shells." Another wrote: "In an instant, the gathering of family, laughter, and simple food turned into eternal silence. Bodies were scattered on the sand, mothers screaming frantically, and fathers searching for the limbs of their children among the waves." Another blogger added: "In the rest area, there were severed, featureless bodies... Heads flew into the sea, and the waves carried their remains. A new massacre is being recorded in the memory of blood." They emphasized that the bombing occurred without any prior warning, and the lives of those sitting there were taken away in an instant, just as dreams are killed in this stricken area, which has traditionally paid a heavy price for simply daring to live. A medical source at Al-Shifa Hospital told Al Jazeera that 34 martyrs—most of them women and children—were killed in the Israeli bombardment, with estimates that the death toll is likely to rise due to the serious injuries.

Ola says, "He was sitting next to me, happy like a child celebrating Eid. He held up his phone and took many pictures of us, his heart fluttering with joy as he told me how beautiful I was." She adds, "Suddenly, without warning, the sound of an explosion interrupted our conversation. The place was filled with dust, and all I heard was Naseem's voice in pain, and then we fell to the ground." She explains, "After I fell, Ola began checking on her and her fiancé's condition: 'I realized my foot was bleeding, so I tied it with a tablecloth. I moved my hand to check on Naseem's body, and I said to him, 'What's wrong? Is your head okay?'" But he was bleeding profusely from his back. It seemed like he had left from the first moment, and I thought he had just lost consciousness. At the hospital, during the treatment procedures, Ola says, "My father was beside me, shedding tears. I asked him several times, 'Dad, is Naseem okay? Is Naseem okay? Please tell me.' But he kept telling me that he was in intensive care now and we couldn't see him. Everyone around me was whispering." "After several hours of partial treatment, they carried me onto a chair and I left. I saw my cousin, patted my shoulder and asked her, 'He was martyred, right?' She replied, 'Yes, we brought him to you so you could see him.'" Ola concluded, "Oh God, reward me for my affliction and replace it with someone better. I bear witness, my Lord, that he deserves to be a martyr. I have never seen anyone more compassionate than him. He was extremely kind and merciful. I entrust him to you, my Lord, until I meet him."

"كان بدرًا، بل أجمل، الحمد لله على هذا المصاب الجلل" بهذه الكلمات ودّعت الشابة "علا عبدربه"، خطيبها "نسيم أبوصبحة" الذي ارتقى في مجــــ...ــزرo "استراحة الباقة" على بحر #غزة ، يوم أمس الإثنين . تقول عُلا: "كان يجلس بجواري فَرِحًا كطفلٍ التقى العيد. رفع هاتفه والتقط لنا العديد من الصور، وقلبه يرفرف من الفرح وهو يخبرني عن جمالي". وتضيف: "فجأة ودون أي إنذار، قاطع حديثنا صوت انفجار. امتلأ المكان بالغبار، ولم أسمع سوى صوت نسيم يتألم ثم سقطنا أرضًا. وتوضح: "بعد أن سقطت، بدأت علا بتفقد حالتها وحالة خطيبها: "أدركت أن قدمي تنزف، فربطتها بشرشف الطاولة. تحركت بيدي لأتفقد جسد نسيم، وقلت له: 'أمانة مالك؟ رأسك بخير؟' لكنه كان ينزف بشدة من ظهره، بدا أنه غادر منذ اللحظة الأولى، وأنا كنت أعتقد أنه فقد وعيه فقط." في المستشفى، وأثناء إجراءات العلاج، تقول عُلا: كان أبي إلى جانبي يذرف الدموع. سألته مرات عدة: 'يابا، نسيم كويس؟ نسيم بخير؟ أمانة احكي لي.' لكنه كان يجيبني بأنه في العناية الآن ولا يمكننا رؤيته، وكان الجميع يهمس حولي". "بعد عدة ساعات من العلاج الجزئي، حملوني على الكرسي وخرجت.. رأيت ابنة خالي، وطبطبت على كتفي وسألتها: 'استشهد، صح؟' أجابتني: 'نعم، لقد جئناك به لتشوفيه.' وختمت علا حديثها: "اللهم أجرني في مصيبتي واخلف لي خيرًا منها. أشهدك ربي أنه يستحق أن يكون شهيدًا، فلم أر أحن منه على قلبي، كان شديد الود والرحمة.. أستودعك إياه يا ربي حتى ألقاه".

Malak Musleh (2005 – June 30, 2025) was a young Palestinian boxer from the Gaza Strip. She was known as one of the most promising talents in boxing in Palestine, having participated in local training and competitions as part of programs to prepare girls for the sport, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.[1] Musleh stood out among a group of girls who faced significant challenges in practicing boxing in an environment lacking facilities and support. However, her passion for the sport and her determination to represent Palestine at the Olympics made her an inspiring symbol for the younger generation.[2] On June 30, 2025, Malak Musleh was killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Gaza Strip during the military response to Operation Flood of Al-Aqsa.

In one of the most brutal and bloody examples of contradiction, a recreational area on Gaza City's beachfront was transformed into the scene of a new massacre, dubbed the "Al-Baqa Cafeteria Massacre." This massacre documented a major shock to the Gazan psyche: a place originally intended as a haven of respite from the pressures of war and siege was transformed in an instant into a scene of devastation and a bloody memory that will never be erased from the memory of the besieged city. The people in the cafeteria were displaced people fleeing the ongoing bombardment, journalists seeking to document the suffering of the people, and students searching for a signal to reassure their families that they were still alive. Who would have imagined that a cafeteria, originally intended for entertainment and enjoyment on the beach, would one day turn into a pool of human blood, with torn remains swimming in it?" Others believed that Gaza is the only place where contradiction doesn't define itself like anywhere else. The genocide has reshaped all concepts in a bloody and tragic way, so much so that those inside the cafeteria weren't there to relax, but to seek a window into life amidst the war. They emphasized that the "Baqa" rest stop was not just a café, but a home and a meeting place for friends and young people from the north to the south of Gaza, until it was transformed in an instant into a mass grave. Last Stories of the Martyrs A number of activists believed that many of those sitting at that moment had promised their families a brief moment of serenity by the sea, an attempt to escape the atmosphere of death that filled the area. However, the criminal occupier sent its missiles at them, assassinating the moment they dared to breathe a breath of happiness, turning their day into yet another tragedy, adding to a long list of tragedies. Others added that the "Baqa" rest stop was not just a café, but a home that brought together the youth of Gaza and a meeting place for friends and loved ones without appointments. Today, the occupation has transformed it into a mass grave and another example of genocide. Painful Testimonies and Unforgettable Photos Bloggers noted that everyone used to go to Al-Baqaa without a specific appointment, because it was a place where everyone they knew would meet. But today, they gathered for a date with death, and the memories on the beach turned into a massacre open to grief. One activist wrote: "The Al-Baqaa cafeteria wasn't just a rest stop; it was a safe haven, our only outlet where we could gather as if it were our home. Unfortunately, this place has been transformed into a slaughterhouse, a graveyard, and a place of mass death." Another added: "In Gaza, even the beach is no longer safe; even the sea has become a place of death." The sand and the sea are witnesses to the tragedy. Others considered that on the beach, where families escape death for a breath of life, the occupation committed a full-fledged massacre. One blogger said: "The sand was laughing under the children's feet, and the water healed the fear for a moment. Then the missile came, and the rest stop was filled with blood, not shells." Another wrote: "In an instant, the gathering of family, laughter, and simple food turned into eternal silence. Bodies scattered on the sand, mothers screaming frantically, and fathers searching for the limbs of their children in the waves." Another blogger added: "In the gathering rest area, there were dismembered, featureless bodies... Heads flew into the sea, and the waves carried their remains. A new massacre recorded in the memory of blood." Advertisement A number of bloggers bitterly asked: "What sin did these people commit? What threat did they pose on this beach, devoid of everything but life? It was the last outing, the last smile, and the sea witnessed a complete massacre. How could a weak and fragile people endure such immense injustice?" A Full-Full Crime Scene Others saw a brief moment of serenity transform into a full-fledged crime scene. Within seconds, the place was transformed into an indescribable scene: body parts scattered on chairs, screams mixed with the smell of the sea, and blood washed away by waves of Arab silence. They asserted that the bombing occurred without any prior warning, with the lives of those seated there being taken away in an instant, just as dreams are being killed in this stricken area, which has traditionally paid a heavy price for simply daring to live. A medical source at Al-Shifa Hospital told Al Jazeera that 34 martyrs—most of them women and children—were killed in the Israeli bombing, with estimates that the toll is likely to rise due to the serious injuries.

في واحدة من أكثر صور التناقض قسوة ودموية، تحولت استراحة ترفيهية على شاطئ بحر مدينة غزة إلى مسرح لمجزرة جديدة أُطلق عليها اسم "مجزرة كافتيريا الباقة"، لتوثق صدمة كبرى في الوجدان الغزي بين مكان خصص أصلا ليكون ملاذا للراحة من ضغوط الحرب والحصار، فتحول في لحظات إلى ساحة دمار وذكرى دامية لن تمحى من ذاكرة المدينة المحاصرة. لم يكن الجالسون في الكافتيريا سوى نازحين فرّوا من القصف المستمر، وصحفيين يسعون لتوثيق معاناة الناس، وطلاب بحثوا عن إشارة اتصال يطمئنون بها أهاليهم بأنهم ما زالوا أحياء. لكن الصاروخ الذي استهدف المكان أغلق كل الأبواب، ليعيد تعريف الحياة والموت على الطريقة الغزية: حيث لا مكان آمنا ولا زمن للهدنة. ومع انتشار صور الدماء والأشلاء الممزقة على الشاطئ، اجتاحت مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي موجة صدمة وحزن عميق، إذ تفاعل آلاف النشطاء والمدونين مع هذه الجريمة المروعة، متسائلين عن حجم التناقض بين كلمتين لا يمكن أن تجتمعا في مكان واحد: "مجزرة" و"كافتيريا". وقال أحد المدونين: "لك أن تتأمل حجم التناقض بين الكلمتين: "مجزرة" و"كافتيريا". من كان يتخيل يوما أن تتحول الكافتيريا، المُعدّة أصلا للترفيه والاستمتاع قبالة شاطئ البحر، إلى بركة من دماء البشر تسبح فيها الأشلاء الممزقة؟". ورأى آخرون أن غزة هي المكان الوحيد الذي لا يعرّف فيه التناقض عن نفسه كما في أي مكان آخر، حيث أعادت الإبادة صياغة كل المفاهيم بطريقة دامية ومأساوية، حتى إن من كان داخل الكافتيريا لم يكن هناك للاستجمام، بل للبحث عن نافذة حياة وسط الحرب. إعلان وأشار نشطاء إلى أن كل محاولة يقوم بها شاب غزي لصناعة نصف حياة أو أخذ قسط قصير من الراحة بعيدا عن مشاهد الدماء تُقصف فورا، لتؤكد مجددا أنه لا مكان آمنا على الإطلاق. وأكدوا أن استراحة "الباقة" لم تكن مجرد مقهى، بل بيتا وملتقى للأصدقاء والشباب من شمال غزة إلى جنوبها، حتى تحوّلت إلى قبر جماعي في لحظة واحدة. حكايات الشهداء الأخيرة رأى عدد من النشطاء أن كثيرا من الجالسين في تلك اللحظة كانوا قد وعدوا أهاليهم بلحظة صفاء قصيرة قرب البحر، محاولة للابتعاد عن أجواء الموت التي تملأ المكان، لكن المحتل المجرم أرسل صواريخه عليهم ليغتال لحظة تجرؤوا فيها على استنشاق السعادة، ويحيل يومهم إلى فاجعة جديدة تُضاف إلى سلسلة طويلة من المآسي. وأضاف آخرون أن استراحة "الباقة" لم تكن مجرد مقهى، بل كانت بمثابة بيت يجمع شباب غزة وملتقى للأصدقاء والأحبة بلا مواعيد، ليحوّلها الاحتلال اليوم إلى قبر جماعي وصورة أخرى من صور الإبادة الجماعية.  شهادات مؤلمة وصور لا تُنسى وأشار مدونون إلى أن الجميع كان يقصد "الباقة" دون موعد محدد، لأنها كانت المكان الذي يلتقي فيه كل من تعرفه، لكنهم اليوم اجتمعوا على موعد واحد مع الموت، وتحولت الذكريات على شاطئ البحر إلى مجزرة مفتوحة على الحزن. وكتب أحد النشطاء: "كافتيريا الباقة لم تكن مجرد استراحة، كانت ملاذا أمانا، متنفسنا الوحيد الذي نجتمع فيه كأنها بيتنا. وللأسف، تحوّل هذا المكان إلى مسلخ ومقبرة وموت جماعي". وأضاف آخر: "في غزة، حتى الشاطئ لم يعد آمنا، حتى البحر صار ساحة موت".  الرمال والبحر شهود على المأساة واعتبر آخرون أنه على شاطئ البحر، حيث تهرب العائلات من الموت إلى نسمة حياة، ارتكب الاحتلال مجزرة مكتملة الأركان. وقال أحد المدونين: "كانت الرمال تضحك تحت أقدام الأطفال، والماء يداوي الخوف للحظة، ثم جاء الصاروخ فامتلأت الاستراحة بالدم، لا بالأصداف". وكتب آخر: "في لحظة، تحوّلت الباقة التي جمعت العائلة والضحك والطعام البسيط إلى صمت أبدي. جثث مبعثرة على الرمال، أمهات يصرخن بجنون، وآباء يبحثون عن أطراف صغارهم بين الأمواج". وأضاف مدون آخر: "في استراحة الباقة أجساد مقطعة بلا ملامح… رؤوس طارت إلى البحر وصار الموج يحمل أشلاءهم. مجزرة جديدة تُسجل في ذاكرة الدم". إعلان وتساءل عدد من المدونين بمرارة: "أي ذنب اقترفه هؤلاء؟ أي تهديد شكلوه على هذا الشاطئ العاري من كل شيء إلا الحياة؟ كانت النزهة الأخيرة، وكانت البسمة الأخيرة، وكان البحر شاهدا على مجزرة مكتملة الأركان. كيف لشعب هزيل وضعيف أن يتحمل كل هذا الظلم الهائل؟". مسرح جريمة مكتملة الأركان ورأى آخرون أن لحظة صفاء قصيرة تحوّلت إلى مسرح جريمة مكتملة الأركان، إذ تحوّل المكان في ثوانٍ إلى مشهد يفوق الوصف، حيث الأشلاء المبعثرة على الكراسي، والصراخ الممزوج برائحة البحر، والدماء التي تغسلها أمواج الصمت العربي. وأكدوا أن القصف وقع بلا أي إنذار مسبق، لتُزهق أرواح الجالسين في لحظة واحدة، تماما كما يُقتل الحلم في هذه البقعة المنكوبة التي اعتادت أن تدفع ثمنا باهظا لمجرد التجرؤ على الحياة. بدوره، قال مصدر طبي بمستشفى الشفاء لقناة الجزيرة إن 34 شهيدا -معظمهم من النساء والأطفال- سقطوا في القصف الإسرائيلي، وسط تقديرات بأن الحصيلة مرشحة للارتفاع بسبب الإصابات الخطيرة.

Journalist Bayan Abu Sultan, survivor of the Al-Baqa Rest House massacre, writes: June 0, 2025 On the shores of the Mediterranean, in my favorite coastal city (Gaza), I headed this morning to my favorite café, Al-Baqa, to enjoy a measure of—fake—peace amidst the din of the massacre we have been living through for nearly two years. I entered the café and greeted everyone who worked there, the faces I see every day. I said “good morning” to Atef, passed by the bar, and ordered my usual drink. I saw Hummus carrying a bag full of biscuits—a rare commodity amid the current famine in the country. He offered me a few biscuits, and I returned them, deeply grateful for his generosity, which he always showers upon us. His young child deserves this treat. I wanted to sit at my usual table, but Frans and Ismail had already arrived, so I sat at a table next to them. They were filming a video for a talk Ismail was going to present at one of his exhibitions touring the world. France was talking to me, her face beaming with joy. Ismail was looking even more elegant that day than usual, so I jokingly addressed him: "I've got a lot of money, man!" He replied, laughing: "I'm a loser!" The three of us chatted and told me that the table was theirs today because the lighting there was good for the video. We laughed together, and then I let them finish filming. Sitting next to me were three girls, regular customers. We exchanged smiles, and I complimented one of their shirts on its beautiful embroidery, a Palestinian peasant style. Every now and then, one of them would burst out laughing, the kind of laughter that someone surrounded by their loved ones would give them. At the table opposite me, two friends in their early twenties sat, looking calm after a fight. Next to them was an enormous wrapped gift—a teddy bear—that was almost taller than them. It later turned out to be a reconciliation gift between them after a quarrel that ended during that meeting. I picked up my phone and scrolled through some news when Hadi interrupted me, reproachfully: "I'm mad at you, auntie. How can you pass by and not say good morning to me?" I replied: "It's my fault, auntie. I swear I didn't see you. Good morning, Hadi!" He laughed, tilted his head as if accepting the apology, and continued working in the café. I grabbed my book, a book of literary criticism by Abdel Rahman Munif, in which he discusses the importance of literary memory and how it is essential not to overlook a writer's works after their death. Literature is a collective identity, and the writer—whether present or absent—is part of chronicling this identity and documenting the culture prevalent in a given society at a specific time. I continued reading until I reached the middle of the book, where Munif spoke about Ghassan Kanafani's role in chronicling Palestinian collective identity, and how "Returning to Haifa" had the greatest impact at that time in emphasizing the necessity that the homeland is not just the past, and that we cannot rely solely on what we possessed. Rather, it is the present we live in and struggle against from every direction. It is the future for which we must devote all our strength to obtain our rights, which have always been usurped in a world he referred to as "a world that is not ours." At approximately 3:45 in the afternoon, my friend Muhammad Abu Shamala arrived. I had last seen him about two months ago. I put my book aside and we sat chatting. The conversation lasted only a few minutes when I interrupted him, pointing out to sea: "The warships are very close today." We looked away later, believing it to be a routine military sweep despite their unusual proximity to the shore. We continued our conversation again when I asked him: "Abu Shamala, what is your country?" He replied, "Beit Dras." "Beit Dras" was the last word I heard before my ears were pierced and I found myself lying on the floor with a sharp creaking sound inside my head and blood covering my face. I didn't fully understand what had happened in the first seconds; however, my survival instinct drove me to crawl under the nearest table, only to find Mohammed throwing himself behind me, receiving shrapnel that would have lodged in my body instead of his. I tried to curb my curiosity—which would one day cause my death—but I couldn't. I raised my head to see what was happening, only to be hit by a wave of shrapnel, some of which landed on my face, which was covered in blood. I turned my head to the left to find Mohammed slumped. I looked to my right and saw a foot separated from the rest of her body. Half a meter away, a girl was trying to crawl, looking into my eyes, trying to say something, but seconds later, she died without saying her last words. I pulled myself together, took the longest breath of my life, and was stunned as soon as I got to my feet. I saw everyone around me covered in blood. I couldn't see anyone moving. I went over to Mohammed to check on him, and he told me he was fine, but his foot was bleeding. His words reassured me, but that reassurance was shattered when I looked at Frans and Ismail's table to find them both dead. I tried to decide what my next steps should be, but I didn't know what to do other than search for my phone amidst the devastation to call an ambulance. Within minutes, hundreds arrived to retrieve the dead and evacuate the wounded. I was walking aimlessly in the same spot. I didn't realize I'd been hit until I found my bag and screamed in pain as soon as I shouldered it. Someone told me my head was bleeding and I should go to the emergency services, who had just arrived. I walked at my slowest pace, and with every step my heart ached with pain, not from the shrapnel I'd sustained, but from the horror of the scene. Seeing the bodies of people I'd wished good morning to: colleagues, friends, and even family. On my way to the hospital, I felt a helplessness only a Gazan can understand: the helplessness of someone unable to save a loved one. I held my nerve until I arrived at the hospital and saw my mother's face surrounded by my friends. I then allowed my body to collapse. On Monday, at around 3:00 PM, the Israeli occupation forces launched an airstrike on the Al-Baqa Café on the Gaza City beachfront, causing a horrific massacre that left dozens dead and many more injured. May God have mercy on the souls of Ismail Abu Hatab, Frans "Amna" Al-Salmi, Atef Al-Baqa, Homs "Mustafa" Abu Omeira, Hadi and Moataz Abu Dan. May God have mercy on the souls of the two friends who resolved their dispute in the final hours of their lives. Mercy to the souls of the girls sitting next to me. Mercy to the souls of all those who passed away that day. Safety to Muhammad Abu Shamala and the reputation of "Ismail" Al-Jajah. الصحفية بيان أبو سلطان الناجية من مجزرة استراحة الباقة تكتب: 0 يونيو، 2025 على ضفاف المتوسط، وفي المدينة الساحلية الأحب لقلبي (غزة)، توجّهت صباحًا إلى المقهى المفضل لي "الباقة" لأنعم بقسط من السلام -المزيف- وسط ضوضاء المذبحة التي نعيشها منذ قرابة العامين. دخلت المقهى وأنا ألقي التحية على جميع من يعمل في المكان، على الوجوه التي أراها كل يوم. أخبرت (عاطف) "صباح الخير"، مررت بالبار وطلبت مشروبي المعتاد فرأيت "حمص" يحمل كيسًا مليئا بالبسكويت -وهو العملة النادرة في ظلّ المجاعة الراهنة التي تقاسيها البلاد- عرض عليّ بضعًا من البسكويت فرددته ممتنة جزيلًا لكرمه الذي يغدقه علينا دومًا، فطفله الصغير هو الأولى بهذا الطعام. أردت الجلوس على طاولتي المعتادة، إلا أن (فرانس) و (إسماعيل) كانا قد سبقاني إليها، فجلست بطاولة مجاورةٍ لهما. كانا يصوران فيديو لكلمة سوف يعرضها (إسماعيل) في أحد معارضه التي تجوب العالم. كانت (فرانس) تحادثني وقد ارتسمت على وجهها ابتسامة عرضها السماوات والأرض، بطلّتها البشوشة دومًا، وكان (إسماعيل) أنيقًا يومها أكثر من المعتاد، فتوجهت له ممازحةً: "ملياان مصاري ياعمي!" فأجابني ضاحكًا: "أنا غلبااان!" تبادل ثلاثتنا الحديث وأخبروني أن الطاولة اليوم لهم لأن الإضاءة في تلك البقعة جيدة للفديو، ضحكنا سويًا ثم تركتهم ليكملوا تصويرهم. بجواري، جلست ثلاث فتياتٍ هن زبائن أراهم بشكل معتاد في المكان، تبادلنا الابتسامة وأثنيت على قميص إحداهن كونه مطرزٌ بطريقة فلاحية فلسطينية جميلةٍ للغاية. بين الفينة والأخرى كانت تفلت من إحداهن ضحكة من هو محاطٌ بأحبته. على الطاولة المقابلة لي، جلست صديقتان في مطلع العشرين، بدا عليهما هدوء ما بعد المعركة، بجانبهما كانت هدية مغلفة ضخمة للغاية -دبدوب- تكاد تفوقهما طولًا. تبيّن لاحقًا أنها هدية صلح فيما بينهما بعد أن خاضتا مشاحنة انتهت في تلك الجلسة. التقطت هاتفي وتصفحت بعض الأخبار ليقاطعني (هادي) معاتبًا: "أنا زعلان منك يا خالتو كيف بتمرقي بتصبحيش عليا!" لأرد بأن: "حقك عليا يا خالتو والله ما شوفتك. صباح الخير يا هادي!" ضحك مميلًا رأسه كمن قبِل الاعتذار، وتابع عمله في المقهى. أمسكت كتابي، وهو كتاب نقدٍ أدبيّ لعبد الرحمن منيف، يتحدث فيه عن أهمية الذاكرة الأدبية، وكيف من الضرورة بمكان عدم تخطّي منتوجات كاتب ما بعد موته، فالأدب هو هويّة جمعية، والكاتب -بحضوره أو غيابه- هو جزءٌ من تأريخ هذه الهوية وتوثيق الثقافة السائدة في مجتمع معين في فترة زمنية محددة. تابعت قرائتي إلى أن وصلت لمنتصف الكتاب، حيث تحدث (منيف) عن دور (غسان كنفاني) في تأريخ الهوية الجمعية الفلسطينية، وكيف كان ل "عائد إلى حيفا" أكبر الأثر في ذلك الوقت في التأكيد على ضرورة أن الوطن هو ليس الماضي فحسب، ولا يمكن الارتكاز على ما كنا نملك فقط، بل هو الحاضر الذي نعيشه ونصارعه من كل صوب، وهو المستقبل الذي يجب أن نبذل له جل قوانا لننال حقوقنا المنتزعة دومًا في عالم أشار له بأنه "عالمٌ ليس لنا". في قرابة الثالثة إلا ربع مساءً، حضر صديقي (محمد أبو شمالة) وكنت قد رأيته آخر مرّة منذ قرابة الشهرين، فوضعت كتابي جانبًا وجلسنا نتبادل أطراف الحديث، ولم يطل الحوار إلا لعدة دقائق حين قاطعته مشيرةً للبحر: "الزوارق الحربية قريبة جدًا اليوم" أشحنا نظرنا عنهم لاحقًا معتقدين أنه تمشيط عسكري معتاد رغم قربهم غير المعتاد من الشاطئ، واسترسلنا حديثنا ثانيةً بسؤالي له: "أبو شمالة شو بلدكم؟" ليرد علي: "بيت دراس". كانت كلمة "بيت دراس" آخر كلمة سمعتها قبل أن تُثقب أذني وأجد نفسي ملقاةً على الأرض مع صرير حاد داخل رأسي ودم يغطي وجهي. لم أدرك تمامًا ما حصل في الثواني الأولى؛ لكن غريزة البقاء دفعتني للزحف أسفل الطاولة الأقرب لي، لأجد محمد يلقي بنفسه ورائي ما جعله يتلقى شظايا كانت ستسقر في جسدي بدلًا من جسده. حاولت كبح جماح فضولي -الذي سيتسبب في موتي يومًا ما- لكنني لم أستطع ورفعت رأسي لأرى ما يحدث، فداهمتني موجةٌ مليئةٌ بالشظايا التي وجدت لها مستقرًا في وجهي الذي بدوره غرق بالدماء. أزحت رأسي يسارًا لأجد محمد يتقلّب مكانه، نظرت ليميني فوجدت قدمًا فارقت بقية جسدها، على بعد نصف متر كانت فتاة تحاول الزحف وهي تنظر لعيناي محاولةً أن تقول شيئًا إلا أنها فارقت الحياة بعد ثواني دون أن تخبرني بكلماتها الأخيرة. تمالكت أعصابي، أخذت نفسًا هو الأطول في حياتي، ثم ذهلت فور وقوفي على قدماي، رأيت جميع من هم حولي غارقين في دمائهم، لم أستطع رؤية أحد يتحرك. توجهت نحو (محمد) لأطمئن عليه فأخبرني أنه بخير لكن قدمه تنزف، كلماته طمأنت قلبي إلا أن هذه الطمأنينة انتُزعت فور نظرت إلى طاولة (فرانس) و (إسماعيل) لأجدهما قد فارقا الحياة. حاولت أن أقرر ما هي خطواتي التالية فلم أعرف ما يمكن فعله سوى البحث عن هاتفي وسط هذا الدمار لأطلب الإسعاف. في غضون دقائق، حضر المئات لانتشال الشهداء وإجلاء الجرحى، كنت أسير في ذات البقعة على غير هدىً، لم أعِ أنني قد أصبت إلا عندما وجدت حقيبتي وصرخت ألمًا فور حملتها على كتفي. أخبرني أحدهم أن رأسي ينزف ويجدر بي التوجه للإسعافات التي وصلت للتو. مشيت بخطىً هي الأبطئ، ومع كل خطوة كان قلبي يعتصر ألمًا، لا من ما أصبت به من شظايا، بل من هول المشهد. مشهد رؤية جثامين أشخاص كنت قد تمنيت لهم صباحًا خيّرًا، زملاء وأصدقاء، بل وعائلة. في طريقي للمشفى، شعرت بعجزٍ لا يفهمه إلا الغزي، عجزُ من لم يستطع إنقاذ من يحب. حافظت على قواي إلى أن وصلت المشفى ورأيت وجه أمي محاطةً بأصدقائي، فسمحت لجسدي بأن يهوي. قوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلي شنت غارة جوية يوم الاثنين قرابة الساعة الثالثة مساءً على مقهى الباقة على شاطئ مدينة غزة ما تسبب في مجزرة شنيعة ارتقى إثرها عشرات الشهداء وأصيب العديد. الرحمة لأرواح إسماعيل أبو حطب، فرانس "آمنة" السالمي، عاطف الباقة، حمص "مصطفى" أبو عميرة، هادي و معتز أبو دان. الرحمة لأرواح الصديقتين اللتان حلّا خلافهما في آخر ساعات حياتهما. الرحمة لأرواح الفتيات اللائي كنّ يجلسن بجواري. الرحمة لأرواح كلّ من فارقوا الحياة في هذا اليوم. السلامة لمحمد أبو شمالة، وسمعة "إسماعيل" الجاجة، السلامة لجميع من أصيبوا بجراح جسدية قد تشفى، ونفسية ستلازمهم
