Security sources in Iraq announced early Wednesday morning that a number of soldiers were wounded in a bombing that targeted their security checkpoint north of Baghdad.
The sources stated that officers and four enlisted personnel were injured in the attack, which struck a security checkpoint in the Sheikh Amer area near Sabaa al-Bour, according to Shafaq News Agency.

Meanwhile, the Basra Police Command announced on Tuesday the death of three people after a rocket struck their home in the Khor Al-Zubair Al-Janoubi area.
In a statement carried by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Command said, "The rocket struck a house located on farmland in Khor Al-Zubair Al-Janoubi, on the Safwan road, completely destroying the house."
The statement added that the victims' bodies were examined by forensic investigators and transferred to the forensic medicine department within the Safwan police station's jurisdiction.

أعلنت مصادر أمنية في العراق، فجر اليوم الأربعاء، بأن عدداً من العسكريين أصيبوا نتيجة قصف استهدف النقطة الأمنية التي كانوا يتواجدون فيها، شمالي بغداد.
وذكرت المصادر الأمنية أن ضباطاً و4 منتسبين أصيبوا في الغارة التي طالت نقطة أمنية في منطقة "الشيخ عامر" قرب منطقة "سبع البور"، بحسب وكالة "شفق".
تزامن ذلك مع سماع دوي عدد من الانفجارات في مناطق متفرقة من العاصمة بغداد، أبرزها مناطق شارع "فلسطين" و"جميلة" و"العامرية".
من جهته، قال مصدر أمني عراقي إن الدفاعات الجوية تصدّت لمسيّرات في أجواء بغداد ما أدى لاندلاع حريق في مركز الدعم الدبلوماسي الأمريكي في مطار بغداد الدولي.
وأشار المصدر إلى أن "صاروخين آخرين سقطا في مركز الدعم الدبلوماسي الأمريكي في المطار، ما أدّى إلى نشوب حريق".
وأضاف المصدر أن "الدفاعات الجوية العراقية اعترضت 3 مسيّرات وأقطتها كلها في نهر دجلة، فيما سقط صاروخ في منطقة العامرية تسبب بإصابة شخصين من عائلة واحدة".
وأعلنت المصادر الأمنية لاحقاً مقتل طفل، يبلغ من العمر 8 سنوات، نتيجة سقوط مقذوف على منزل بمنطقة "العامرية" في بغداد.
من جهتها، أعلنت قيادة شرطة البصرة، الثلاثاء، مقتل 3 أشخاص إثر سقوط صاروخ على منزلهم في منطقة "خور الزبير الجنوبي".
وقالت القيادة، في بيان لها أوردته وكالة أنباء العراق "واع"، إن "الصاروخ سقط على دار سكنية في أرض زراعية بخور الزبير الجنوبي طريق سفوان، مما أدى إلى تهدم الدار بالكامل".
وأضافت أنه تم فحص جثث الضحايا من قبل الأدلة الجنائية ونقلها إلى "الطبابة العدلية"، ضمن قسم شرطة "سفوان" التابع لقاطع المسؤولية.
