JERUSALEM, June 8 (Reuters) - The Israeli military said its forces rescued four hostages alive from two locations in the Nuseirat area of central Gaza on Saturday.
He added that the hostages, three men and a woman, were abducted by the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas from the Nova music festival in southern Israel on October 7.

The army identified the released hostages as Noa Argamani (25), Almoa Meir (21), Andrei Kozlov (27), and Shlomi Ziv (40).

Eight months after the start of the devastating war on the Gaza Strip, which erupted following Hamas's attack on Israeli towns on October 7, 116 hostages remain inside the Palestinian territory out of approximately 250 abducted by the militants during the offensive, according to Israeli statistics.
Authorities have declared at least 40 of them dead, though their bodies have not yet been recovered. Israeli military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said the rescue operation took place amid gunfire in the heart of a residential neighborhood, where he said Hamas had hidden the hostages among civilians in Gaza under the protection of armed men.
In a televised press conference, Hagari said an Israeli soldier was seriously wounded. He added that Israeli forces returned fire, including with airstrikes.

The Gaza Health Ministry said at least 55 Palestinians were killed in the Israeli operation. It added that women and children were among the dead.

The office of Israeli President Isaac Herzog released a video of Argamani receiving a phone call from the president. "I'm so happy to be here," Argamani said, smiling as she sat with her father in a hospital room. "Thank you for everything, thank you for this moment."
In another video, Argamani, speaking on the phone with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, said, "I'm very moved. I haven't heard Hebrew in a long time." Arghmani appeared in a previous video meeting her father, smiling, and hugging him.
Arghmani and her boyfriend, Avinatan Orr, were abducted from the Nova music festival on the morning of October 7. Her boyfriend is believed to still be held captive.
Arghmani became one of the most well-known hostages after videos surfaced online showing her being abducted by two men on a motorcycle. In the videos, she can be heard screaming, "Don't kill me!"
