Muhammad Abu Assaf, a prominent figure in the Beit Jann farm in the western Damascus countryside, denied Israeli claims that an airstrike targeted a member of the Palestinian Hamas movement in the area.

Abu Assaf confirmed to Asharq Al-Awsat that the target was Anas Abboud, 28, a former fighter in the Syrian revolutionary factions. He recently returned to his village and joined the New Syrian Army. He is not affiliated with Hamas, Iranian militias, or Lebanese Hezbollah.

نفى محمد أبو عساف، أحد وجهاء مزرعة بيت جن في ريف #دمشق الغربي، صحة التصريحات الإسرائيلية التي زعمت أن ضربة جوية استهدفت عنصراً في حركة "حماس" الفلسطينية بالمنطقة.

وأكد أبو عساف لصحيفة "الشرق الأوسط" أن المستهدف أنس عبود (28 عاماً)، مقاتل سابق في فصائل الثورة السورية، عاد مؤخراً إلى قريته وانضم إلى الجيش السوري الجديد، ولا يرتبط بحركة "حماس" أو الميليشيات الإيرانية أو حزب الله" اللبناني.
