Geo News reported the deaths of 14 members of Afghanistan's branch of Islamic State in strikes in Nangarhar province, but it was not clear whether they were carried out by Afghan or US forces.

The strikes allegedly hit three "main" hideouts of the group. 

The date for the strikes was not clear, but they were reported by Geo News on October 29.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Pakistan Taliban (TTP) confirmed in a statement the death of a "key" commander in a US drone strike on a compound in Khost province.

The commander allegedly killed was identified as Maqbool Dawar in the statement, which reportedly also said his brother Murad Ali and two other fighters were killed. The group also released photographs of the bodies, Anadolu said. 

A unnamed local administration official however told Anadolu they could not confirm the TTP claims.

Two strikes were reported to have hit Zabul province, but it was not clear if they were carried out by US or Afghan forces.

One of the strikes allegedly killed 14 members of the Taliban in Bata Khelo area, Nawbahar district on the evening of October 27, a Afghan military commander said. The second, he said, hit in an area called Nawrak in Qalat district killing four alleged insurgents. The date for the second strike was not clear.

Local government officials have said an air strike in Herat province has left scores of insurgents dead and injured after it allegedly hit a Taliban meeting where over 300 had gathered. An exact number of casualties was not given.

At least 40 members of Afghanistan's branch of Islamic State were killed during an air strike in Nangarhar's Achin district, Police Spokesperson Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal told Pajhwok News. 

An Afghan Air Force strike targeted "suicide bomber hideouts" in Momand Dara area of the district, he said. However, Khaama Press reported a strike that, although it was reported to have taken place the day after and in a different area of the same district, sounded strikingly similar - but said it had been carried out by US forces. The strike, Khaama said, had also killed 40 Islamic State fighters, including a number of suicide bombers. Both Pajhwok and Khaama reported the deaths of two men described as trainers for future suicide bombers, identifying them as Qari Quran and Qari Fida. 

The "provincial police commandment" statement from which Khaama Press got its information allegedly said the strike hit one of the group's training camps.

A US drone strike killed a "key" leader of Afghanistan's branch of Islamic State and nine other members of the group, according to a statement from 201st Silab Corps of the Afghan National Army, as reported by Khaama Press.

The statement identified the leader as Abu Tahir Al-Bajawari. 

In the first sentence of the reporting, the attack was described as a single strike, but it was later referred to as more than one strike. We have included between one and two strikes in our database to reflect the uncertainty.

Security sources told Dawn that a suspected US drone fired six missiles killing 12 alleged fighters and injuring several others in Khosh Kurram. Daily Pakistan said this was in Paktia. The province has been the site of numerous reported strikes close to the Pakistan border in the last few days.

The Nation reported six "hideouts" of the group were destroyed.

A US spokesperson said US forces carried out a counter-terrorism strike during an operation in Maiwand district in Kandahar province. 

The spokesperson was responding to Reuters on whether they provided any support to an Afghan base that had been stormed by the Taliban. The Defence Ministry has estimated that at least 43 troops were killed after insurgents attacked in the middle of the night. An estimated 60 troops had been manning the base at the time.

Unnamed security sources told Dawn a drone strike in Afghanistan's Paktia province killed at least four suspected fighters.

The sources said the strike took place close to the border with Pakistan. In recent days a number of strikes have reportedly hit close to the border. Geo News said it occurred in Jahwaray Sar area of Paktia.

Both Dawn and Geo News said two missiles were fired at an alleged militant hideout.

A US drone strike killed at least two "leaders" of Afghanistan's branch of Islamic State, a statement from the media office of the provincial government said, according to Khaama Press.

The statement identified the two men as as Faisal and Obaidullah, adding that their motorcycle and some weapons had been destroyed in the strike.

An Afghan Air Force strike killed six Taliban insurgents and wounded a further six, according to a spokesperson from the 209 Shaheen Military Corps, which is part of the Afghan National Army. 

“Three safe havens of the insurgents and their weapons storage facility were destroyed in the airstrikes,” Spokesperson Nasratullah Jamshidi said.

Two possible drones strikes were reported to have hit on the Afghan-Pakistan border, but, like a strike reportedly carried out the day before, it was unclear on what side of the border they fell. 

“Four unmanned drones fired six missiles in Monday’s (October 16) attack, and four more were dropped in two strikes on Tuesday (October 17),” Baseer Khan Wazir, the top administrative official in the Kurram Agency told Reuters. “Twenty people were killed yesterday, mostly from the Afghan Taliban, and 11 more were killed in today’s attacks.” He said all three took place on the Afghan side of the border. The Inter-Services Public Relations, the media wing of the Pakistan Armed Forces, has also said the strikes occurred in Afghanistan. 

Taliban sources allegedly said six members of the Pakistan-linked Haqqani Network were killed in one of the attacks.

Shortly after the border strikes, various news sites began to report the alleged deaths of two key commanders, but there was much confusion in the reporting. ARY News, Xinhua and Anadolu, for example, reported the death of Umar Mansoor also known as Khalifa Mansour and Umar Naray, a TTP commander believed to have masterminded the 2014 attack on the Army Public School which killed mostly children. But, Geo News reported Umar Khalid Khurasani, the chief of Jamaat ul Ahrar (JuA), had died. A JuA spokesperson confirmed his death to Reuters, saying he was wounded in a recent drone strike in Afghanistan's Paktia province and died from these injuries on October 18. At least nine close associates of his were also killed, the spokesperson said.

Some of the confusion could stem from the TTP's announcement of Umar Mansoor's death and his replacement shortly after the border strikes. However, it seems the TTP statement didn’t give details of how and when Mansoor died. It may be some media linked his death with the strikes due to the timing of the announcement. The Pentagon confirmed his death in July last year in a US strike. In the entry in our database back then, we have another of his alias as Khalid Khurasani, further confusing things. The Express Tribune suggests the announcement could have been prompted by images of the commander's body circulating on social media a few days prior.

While the US confirmed carrying out strikes close to the border but on the Afghan side in the entry below, they did not confirm the same for this particular incident. We have recorded this strike as a "C" strike in both our Afghanistan and Pakistan timelines - a placeholder that is not included in the strike and casualty tally.

A US spokesperson confirmed that US forces carried out counter-terrorism strikes during operations in Jaji Maidan district of Paktia province.

We had contacted them following reports of a possible strike in Pakistan, as there was some confusion over whether it took place just across the border in Afghanistan. The area in which the US carried out the strikes borders Pakistan's Kurram Agency, which is where some sources placed the attack. 

Pakistan intelligence sources put the location of the attack in Mukbal area, in the Kurram tribal region of the country close to the border with Afghanistan. Meanwhile a local official said the attack occurred in Hangu, which they said was part of Pakistan's border region with Afghanistan. Hangu district appears to be in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province which borders Kurram Agency, alongside Orakzai Agency and North Waziristan, all part of FATA, but falls itself in the so-called "settled areas". Hangu town is the administrative centre of the district.  

However, both a Pakistan government official and the local administration of Kurram Agency said it is not clear if the compound was on Pakistan territory. Two government officials told AFP part of the compound was in Afghan territory. One said the missiles fell in mountainous terrain very close to the porous border with Afghanistan. A security official in Pakistan told Express Tribune one strike hit around 17:37 (local time) along the Kurram border and a second ten minutes later opposite Lower Kurram. The official stressed that both took place in Afghanistan, with only the sounds of the strikes audible in Pakistan. The Inter-Sevices Public Relations, the media wing of the Pakistan Armed Forces, has also said the strikes occurred on the Afghan side of the border.

Most sources indicate a house or compound was hit, with reports of more than one drone and multiple missiles being fired at the target. 

Different sources provided different casualty figures. Reuters reported a Taliban source - who claimed six missiles targeted two or three compounds of mud-huts being used by the fighters - saying at least five members of the Haqqani Network were killed and eight others injured. Local sources, according to the Express Tribune, put the death toll at at least 17, with the house struck belonging to a Saeed Karim. Two Pakistan intelligence officials first told AP five Haqqani Network fighters were killed, including a commander they identified as Sangeen Wali, but said that a later search of the compound found a further 15 bodies. A senior government official in Pakistan told AFP one drone fired a missile killing five fighters, and a second drone fired a further two missiles targeting militants who arrived to retrieve the bodies - a total of 26 bodies had so far been found, he said. 

One Pakistan official told AFP that the target of the strike was “Abu Bakar”, a Haqqani Network commander. However, on June 13 he was reported killed in a drone strike. Baseer Khan Wazir, the most senior administrator in Kurram Agency, said a Taliban hideout was hit.

The day after, reports of further strikes near the Afghan-Pakistan border surfaced. Various news sites began to report the alleged deaths of two key commanders, but there was much confusion in the reporting. At least 15 Taliban insurgents were killed and several others injured in an airstrike in Kandahar's Maroof district, Zia Durrani, the spokesperson for the provincial governor, reportedly told Pajhwok. 

However, the reporting on the incident was somewhat confusing. Pajhwok reported a separate source saying the district HQ had moved, and six policemen had been killed and some missing after the strike. It  then said Durrani rejected this, adding information about another incident in a different district. 

Neither source said whether this was a US or Afghan strike. The date of the alleged strike was also not clear, although the information on it was published on October 16. 

As a result of the unclear information, we have recorded this strike as a possible US strike.

A US drone strike was reported to have hit Kunar province, but while some Afghan officials have maintained it killed members of Afghanistan's branch of Islamic State, there are reports of civilian casualties.

Abdul Ghani Musamim, a spokesman for the provincial governor, told the Associated Press that the strike hit a meeting of the group's commanders planning an attack. Afghan officials put the death toll at 14, according to the Guardian. Xinhua spoke to the provincial police chief who said 20 fighters had been killed in the strike, which he said hit Badgol area in the Kunar's Chawkay district.

However, the MP for the province, Shahzada Shaheed, has said civilians were killed, but did not indicate how many. Xinhua reported that some residents claimed those killed were civilians who wanted to participate in a wedding ceremony.

The Bureau has contacted Resolute Support but have not yet received a response. We will update this post when more information comes to light.

Seven air strikes were carried out by the Afghan Air Force over a 24 hour period, according to the Afghan Ministry of Defence.

No further details were given on the strikes, although operations over that period killed 65 insurgents, the MoD reportedly said. The strikes were part of the operations.

A US drone strike hit Badakhshan province on the night of October 10 killing eight Taliban fighters and injuring 15 others, local officials told TOLO News. The Taliban allegedly confirmed the strike but said there were no casualties. 

While the reporting focuses on a single drone strike, the police chief of the province references a bombardment. “In a series of ground and air operations, the NATO forces bombarded the enemy targets in Ghol Pala village in Raghistan district by using drones and as a result eight bodies of the enemy have been identified. Meanwhile, a large number of enemy fighters have been wounded and a great number of their heavy weapons were destroyed,” said Abdul Khaliq Aqsai, Badakhshan police chief.

Multiple strikes were also mentioned by some provincial council members who spoke to TOLO News, but it is not clear whether these strikes were carried out by the US so they cannot be included in our database. 

The strike, the officials told TOLO, was the first US drone attack in the province in years. Our database, which goes back to January 2015, does not contain a confirmed US strike, drone or otherwise, in the province. However, we only capture a small portion of the strikes that take place. There was an Afghan strike reported in May this year.

Khaama Press said four members of Afghanistan's branch of Islamic State were killed in a strike on group hideouts in Nangarhar province, citing a statement from the provincial government media office. 

The strike hit in the night, killing the four alleged fighters and destroying weapons, ammunition and explosives, the statement reported said.

An air strike struck a Taliban compound being used as a insurgent training facility in Sar e Pul province, Khalilullah Dastyar, the provincial police chief, told Khaama Press. 

He said at least seven Taliban insurgents had been killed in the strike, which reportedly hit Dara e Alf Safi area, and at least eleven others were injured.

Khaama Press said at least eleven members of Afghanistan's branch of Islamic State were killed in US strikes in Nangarhar province, citing a provincial government media office statement. 

The strikes, it reportedly said, took place in the villages of Mamand Dara and Dab in Achin district.

Attaullah Khogyani, spokesman for the provincial government in Nangarhar, told Anadolu Agency an air strike was carried out in the Lal Pura district of the province, killing up to 22 fighters and wounding several others. It was the fifth such raid in as many days, he said. 

Khogyani said eight of the fighters belonged to the Jamaat ul-Ahrar (JuA), a splinter group of the Pakistan Taliban. The remaining 15 were allegedly members of Afghanistan's branch of Islamic State. A spokesperson for JuA reportedly confirmed the eight deaths, saying two commanders named Adil Bacha and Wali Khan were amongst the dead. 

The incident was referred to as a strike, a raid and a joint operation in the reporting, so we have decided to record this as a possible strike to reflect the confusion.

It was not clear when the incident took place but it was reported on October 1.

At least nine members of the Afghan security forces have been killed in an air strike from friendly forces in Helmand province, with most sources pointing the finger at the Afghan Air Force. 

A US spokesperson has said a Afghan MD-530 helicopter struck the personnel. Responsibility for the strike was also placed on the Afghan forces by unnamed officials who spoke to Reuters and Khaama Press. Omar Zwak, spokesperson for the province's governor, however, has said the authorities were still investigating which air force carried out it out. 

Helmand Governor Hayatullah Hayat said Afghan forces were pushing to break the Taliban front line in the area when the strike took place. Heavy fighting had occurred over several days, he said. 

Both Hayat and Zwak had put the death toll at nine in some reports, but Zwak appeared to raise this to ten, with a further ten security personnel injured.Zwak told Khaama Press at least two intelligence personnel and seven soldiers of the Afghan Local Police had been killed. Reuters claimed the strike hit members of "Sangoryan", described as a special militia unit who wear local clothes to blend into areas where the Taliban are active. Most reporting around the strike put the death toll at ten, with officials telling Reuters nine men were injured. 

The incident took place in Gereskh district, which saw another friendly-fire strike on July 21. Between 9 and 16 members of the Afghan forces were killed in that strike, which was carried out by a US aircraft.

The US carried out 212 strikes in September, US data shows. But while this was fewer strikes than the previous five months, the US dropped more bombs and missiles on Afghanistan than in any other month for nearly seven years. 

The US launched 751 weapons in September – an average of 3.5 weapons dropped per strike. In August, an average of just over one weapon was dropped per strike. 

Most of the strikes – 158 strikes – were carried out in support of Afghan strategic goals, including defending key towns and cities. These are known as "strategic effects" strikes.

There were 46 strikes conducted under force protection rules, which allow the US to take out threats to international as well as Afghan troops who are “in extremis”. 

A further eight strikes were carried out under counter-terrorism authorities, targeting either al Qaeda or Afghanistan’s branch of Islamic State.

At least 15 members of Afghanistan's branch of Islamic State were killed in a US drone attack in Nangarhar province, according to Attaullah Khogyani, the provincial governor's spokesperson. 

"An unmanned plane of NATO-led troops targeted IS militants' hideout in Nazian district of Nangarhar province on Friday night (September 29), leaving 15 rebels dead," Khogyani told Xinhua.

Khaama Press reported that a drone strike killed five members of Afghanistan's branch of Islamic State in Nangarhar's Haska Mena district, citing a statement from the provincial media office. It reportedly took place in Nari Oba area. 

It was not clear if this was the same strike recorded in the entry below. It also took place on September 27 in the same district, allegedly killing the same number of IS-K fighters, although further details on the exact location in Haska Mena were not given.

A US drone strike targeted a group of suspected IS-K fighters killing five of them, Hazrat Hussain, described as the spokesperson for the Nangarhar security headquarters, told Anadolu Agency. In previous reporting, Hussain has been described as the province's police spokesperson.

A strike hit an alleged Taliban compound in Paktia province killing over 15 suspected fighters, Abdullah Hasrat, spokesperson for the provincial governor, told Anadolu Agency. 

While Hasrat told Anadolu that the strike was carried out by US forces, in Pajhwok he was reported saying it was carried out by "security forces". As a result of this ambiguity, we will record this strike as a possible US strike and it will not be added to our strike tally as yet.

Pajhwok reported Hasrat saying two fighters were also injured and two machine guns and some ammunition destroyed, details not included in the Anadolu Agency report.

A US strike in Afghanistan's capital of Kabul has led to civilian casualties after a missile malfunctioned, Resolute Support has said.

The strike was carried out in support of Afghan troops battling fighters who attacked Kabul's Hamid Karzai International Airport. The attack reportedly occurred shortly after US Defence Secretary Jim Mattis arrived on a visit. 

"During a failed attack today, insurgents fired several rounds of high-explosive ammunition, including mortars, into the vicinity of Hamid Karzai International Airport and detonated suicide vests endangering a great number of civilians," the Resolute Support press release read.  A US military official told CNN that up to 40 rounds of munition hit the airport - 29 of which were rocket-propelled grenade. They were fired towards a guard tower and hit the south side of the airport, the official said. 

"The Afghan Crisis Response Unit 222 responded quickly to confront the attackers and end the assault. US forces acting in support conducted an airstrike. Tragically, one of the missiles malfunctioned, causing several casualties," the US press release read. "Resolute Support deeply regrets the harm to non-combatants. We take every precaution to avoid civilian casualties, even as the enemies of Afghanistan continue to operate in locations that deliberately put civilians at very high risk." An investigation into both the attack and the malfunctioning ammunition has begun, it added. 

While the press release did not say how many civilians had been killed or injured, US Spokesperson Captain Willian Salvin said five civilians had been injured. He had told Hindustan Times that one civilian died but said updated reporting showed this to be inaccurate. Salvin told them that the US fired two Hellfire missiles, but while one hit the target - a building from which insurgents allegedly launched their attack - the other one went astray for unknown reasons. We were told by Salvin that the errant missile hit a structure. 

AFP interviewed Haji Rabbani, the owner of a house that they said had been hit by two US missiles in the incident. He told AFP that six members of his family were injured, including four children. As of September 28, two children and two adults remained in hospital, Rabbani said.  

Ministry of Interior Spokesperson Najib Danish had told Khaama Press at least one civilian was killed and eleven others were wounded, however this may well not have been on account of the strike - Danish told Pajhwok that an insurgent rocket hit a house near the airport leading to the same casualty figure. He said the injured civilians were in a stable conditions. Danish also said the bodies of four attackers were recovered from the scene. 

According to CNN, the Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, with their spokesperson tweeting that Mattis' plane was the target. The BBC reported that Afghanistan's branch of Islamic State had also claimed responsibly.

At least eight IS-K fighters were killed in a US strike in Nangarhar province, according to a statement from the "provincial police commandment" as reported in Khaama Press. 

Weapons, ammunitions and explosives were destroyed in the late night strike, the statement reportedly said.

At least five members of Afghanistan's branch of Islamic State were killed when a US drone struck a vehicle in Nangarhar province, Hazrat Hussain, provincial police spokesperson, told Anadolu Agency.

Other news reports also reported the same details, although they did attributed the information to unnamed police sources. Khaama press identified the car hit as a Toyota Corolla type vehicle. It reportedly contained weapons and explosives.

At least 18 members of Afghanistan's branch of Islamic State were killed in two drone strikes in Kunar province, the provincial police chief reportedly said.

The second of these strikes killed seven alleged members of the group, including one commander, according to Police Chief Juma Gul Hemmat as reported in Xinhua. Although he said this was the second strike, it was not clear when it took place. The first strike was carried out on September 20 and is recorded below.

A US strike killed members of Afghanistan's branch of Islamic State in Nangarhar province, according to the provincial government media office as reported in Khaama Press. There was however some differences in the reporting when it came to the casualty count. The article said that both two fighters were killed and two injured, and four were killed.

At least 18 members of Afghanistan's branch of Islamic State were killed in two drone strikes in Kunar province, the provincial police chief reportedly said.

"The first incident took place late on Wednesday (September 20), when an unmanned air vehicle of NATO-led troops targeted militants' hideouts, leaving 11 fighters, including two of their local commanders, dead in Batash Dara area of Nari district," said Juma Gul Hemmat, according to Xinhua.

Five Taliban fighters were killed and three others injured in strikes in Jawzjan, according to the police chief of the province, but it was not clear whether they were carried out by US or Afghan forces. 

General Rahmatullah Turkistan said the strikes hit militant hideouts in Haidarabad area, which, he said, prevented attacks the insurgents planned to carry out.

An Afghan Ministry of Defence statement reported in Khaama Press announced that a strike in Nangarhar province killed two alleged members of Lashkar-e-Islam, a militant group that operates in Afghanistan and Pakistan. 

Officials from a division of the Afghan army reportedly confirmed the strike, saying it was carried out in the Bandar area of Achin district. The officials also said a separate strike killed two members of Afghanistan's branch of Islamic State in a different district of the province. One other fighter was wounded in that strike and one motorcycle was destroyed, they reportedly said. 

It was unclear whether US or Afghan forces carried out the strikes. The date they took place was also not clear, but Khaama Press published the information on them on September 19.

At least 15 Taliban insurgents were killed, including three commanders, in what was described as a "joint Afghan-NATO operation" in Farah province.

Naser Mehri, the provincial governor's spokesperson, told Pajhwok an air-and-ground offensive was supported with air strikes by "foreign forces". The US is the only country, aside from the Afghans, known to be flying strike missions in Afghanistan. 

The operations took place in Grani, Ganjabad and Shiwan areas of Bala Balook district in the afternoon of September 18, but it seems those reported dead were killed only in Grani. It was unclear if they died on account of the strikes. 

The Taliban commanders were named by Mehri as Haji Ahmad Shah, Haji Esmatullah and Wahid. 

While the spokesperson said there had been no civilian casualties in the operation, an unnamed resident of Grani told Pajhwok that a strike partially damaged his sister-in-law's house and injured her. He said other civilians were also injured, with livestock killed and houses destroyed. All the injured were in a stable condition, the source said. 

We have included two strikes in our database, as multiple strikes were reported by the provincial governor's spokesperson. We recorded up to three civilians injured in the strikes, reflecting what the resident of Grani said, and a range of between 0 and 15 people killed, reflecting that we are unsure whether the insurgents reportedly killed died in the strikes.

While local officials reportedly said a strike in Ghazni province killed insurgents, residents have said it led to civilian casualties. It was unclear whether the strike had been carried out by US or Afghan forces. 

Arif Noori, the provincial governor's spokesperson, said the strike killed seven Taliban fighters celebrating gains from an attack the previous day in Balai area of Deh Yak district. He did report that two civilians were injured but said their injuries were not life threatening. 

However, local resident Mohammad Akram said three members of a family were killed and another woman was injured in the strike. He said a mosque was also attacked but there were no casualties. 

The Taliban said their fighters escaped the strike unharmed.

A US spokesperson said no strikes had taken place in the province over the period of time the strike was reported to have taken place.

An Afghan Air Force strike killed nine members of Afghanistan's branch of Islamic State in Achin district of Nangarhar province, according to the Afghan Ministry of Interior.

Afghan Air Force strikes hit Taliban hideouts killing at least 15 insurgents and injuring 11 others, according to a Afghan Ministry of Interior press release. 

“Two bases of the insurgents, three vehicles, nine motorbikes and some weapons were destroyed in the airstrikes,” it reportedly said.

Major General Juma Gul Hemat, Kunar province's police chief, told Pajhwok that 64 members of Afghanistan's branch of Islamic State (IS-K) had been killed in strikes carried out in a number of districts. 

Hemat did not specify whether the strikes were carried out US or Afghan forces, but said they were part of an intensification of military operations against the group. There was no indication of when they took place either, although the information on them was published on September 14. 

Pajhwok reported in the same article that US forces have conducted 35 drone strikes since IS-K "started activities against the government". The source of this information was unclear.

A US drone strike allegedly killed three Taliban insurgents in Lalpur district in Nangahar province, unnamed local officials told Khaama Press.

This was confirmed by the provincial government media office, Khaama Press said, adding that a statement from the office identified the dead as Shalman, Mahaz, and Waqas. They were not Afghan nationals, it said. 

The Bureau only records strikes reported by named Afghan sources and will be recorded here as a "C" strike - a placeholder that is not included in the strike and casualty tally. We will update this post if more information becomes available.

A statement from the Afghan Ministry of Interior announced the death of a local Taliban leader and three other fighters in a strike in Logar province, according to Khaama Press.

The local leader was identified as Qari Ismail, also known as Mir Mohammadi. The three other alleged fighters were named as Qari Sirajuddin, Ahmad Gul and Mohammad Tahir.

It was not clear from the reporting whether the strike was carried out by Afghan or US forces, and as a result we will recorded this strike as a "possible" US strike. It was also not clear on what date the strike took place. Khaama Press reported the statement on September 11.

At least 18 members of Afghanistan's branch of Islamic State were killed and seven others injured in air strike by "foreign forces" in Nangarhar province, a statement from the provincial government office reportedly said.

Sherin Aqa Faqiryar, a spokesperson for the Afghan Army's Selab 201 Corps, said a commander of Afghanistan's branch of Islamic State was killed in a "foreign forces" strike in Kunar province.

Aside from Afghanistan, only the US flies strikes missions in the country. Faqiryar provided no additional details on the strike, which was reported alongside Afghan Air Force strikes in Nuristan province.

It was not clear when the strike took place, but it was reported in Khaama Press on September 9.
