کیس سٹڈی

Tribal elder Malik Gulistan Khan died alongside four members of his family in the second drone strike of President Obama’s administration. The attack reportedly targeted the wrong house.

Khan was a tribal elder and a member of a local pro-government peace committee, family members later told researchers. His 18-year-old son Adnan said: ‘I lost my father, three brothers and my cousin.’ Adnan’s uncle added: ‘We did nothing, [we] have no connection to militants at all. Our family supported the government.’ Habib Khan, the brother of Malik Gulistan Khan, also said: ‘No one has accepted responsibility for this incident so far.’

A report was provided to the Center for Civilians in Conflict by the Assistant Political Agent of South Waziristan, and a local jirga requested the Pakistan government pay compensation for his death.

ذرائع

Interview with Malik Gulistan Khan’s brother and son, Adnan (CIVIC); Daniel Klaidman (Kill or Capture) two unnamed Taliban, victim’s brother and nephew, two unnamed ISI officers (not by name – Foreign Policy); officials (not by name – BBC)
