Last Updated: May 7, 2026

Three women were killed and up to 26 people were injured by alleged Iranian missile strikes on a residential building in Beer Sheva, Israel the morning of June 24, 2025, just hours before the ceasefire went into effect. An off-duty IDF combat soldier was also killed in the attack.

Journalist @elikowaz reported on Twitter/X that Iranian missiles had struck a seven-story building in Beer Sheva and that medics were on their way to the scene, later reporting that three people had been killed and “at least” four others were in critical condition. @elikowaz continued to post updates on the incident, showing children being rescued from the impact site and pointing out that the victims had been in safe rooms. Additional footage shows extensive damage to a residential tower and nearby cars.

@ynetnews provided the toll that at least three people were killed, 10 others were injured, and “more feared trapped under rubble of collapsed building” and later quoted officials from Soroka Hospital who stated that 26 injured people had been brought to the hospital, including two in moderate condition and the rest in light condition. Ynet News later provided more details on the victims: Corporal Eitan Zachs (18), his girlfriend Noa Boguslavsky (18) from the city of Arad, and his mother Michal Zachs (50) were kill alongside another resident of the building Naomi Shaanan (73). As the source pointed out that Eitan was “a soldier in combat training in the Multidimensional Unit (888),” he has not been classified as a civilian.

According to Ynet News, Naomi Shaanan was a well-known activist in calling for the return of the hostages, with a fellow activist describing her as: “She stood every day with unwavering determination for the return of the hostages, for ending the war and for the sanctity of all human life. May her memory be a blessing—may their return be her legacy” while a photographer described her as “a principled and kind-hearted partner in the struggle”. Americans for Ben-Gurion University (@A4BGU) mourned Naomi and recognized her as a “cherished member of the BGU family”.

Times of Israel memorialized 12th grader Noa Boguslavsky and spoke with Arad Mayor Yair Maayan who said “Noa was a member of the Arad family, a young girl just starting her journey, and the pain of her passing is felt throughout the city.” @noatishby also reported on Noa’s death and included an image of the young woman pictured wearing a white dress and holding a bouquet of flowers. According to the @ADL, Noa had graduated from high school four days before she was killed.

A post from @RabbiPoupko recognized the killing of Michal, and included an image of her standing infront of a beautiful mountain scene.

Ynet also spoke with nearby residents, including a resident of the building that took the direct hit who said “We entered quickly, and within a second there was such an explosion that we knew it was really close to us. That’s all the fears. When we came out, we saw the destruction.” Another resident named Daniel Ben Zvi said “There’s no house left. Everything is dismantled. It happened in seconds. As soon as we entered the MAMAD, we barely had time to close the door. My father flew and I caught him. The impact was beyond normal. It’s impossible to describe it. When we left, our world was destroyed. It’s just property. But still.”

Israeli rescue services @Mdais provided an update “as of 7:45” a.m. that there were four deaths, two moderate injuries, and 20 minor injuries and anxiety, noting that “MDA teams are continuing search and rescue operations”.

Times of Israel journalist Emanuel Fabian provided additional details that two missiles were launched at 5:40 a.m. at Beersheba, and while one of them was intercepted the other struck the sixth floor of an apartment complex, collapsing part of the building. The missile directly hit two safe rooms, killing those inside as they are not designed to withstand a direct hit from a missile.

Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the missile strikes to Iran.

In a subsequent barrage, at least four missiles were launched, with one scoring a direct hit on the Be'er Sheva home.Shortly after the Be'er Sheva strike, additional sirens were heard across central and southern Israel. Two missiles were reportedly intercepted. A fourth salvo, consisting of two missiles targeting central Israel, was also intercepted. A fifth attack triggered sirens in northern Israel—including Haifa, the Jezreel Valley, northern Sharon, the Carmel, Samaria, Wadi Ara and the Galilee—marking a new barrage launched after the declared start of the ceasefire. That strike involved a single missile, which was also intercepted. The attack came shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a phased ceasefire between Israel and Iran, set to be implemented within 24 hours. Under Trump's outline, Iran agreed to halt its fire for 12 hours, after which Israel was expected to observe a similar pause.First published: 18:06, 06.24.25

Rescue teams continued efforts to locate trapped individuals in Be’er Sheva early Tuesday after an Iranian missile struck an apartment building in the area, resulting in at least four people killed. The Magen David Adom emergency service reported that at least 22 others were injured to varying degrees.Israel Police Southern District commander Chaim Bublil, who arrived at the scene, called it a “complex incident,” noting that “a major barrage was launched toward the district around 6 a.m. One missile made a direct hit on a residential building in Be'er Sheva, causing extensive damage. Additional buildings were damaged by the blast.”liveThe moment of impact in Beer Sheva liveIranian missile causes widespread destruction in Be'er Sheva liveRescue teams rescuing residents in Be'er Sheva (Video: IDF Spokesperson's Unit, Israel Fire and Rescue Authority)Bublil said four bodies were recovered from the building and that over 20 people were injured, including two in moderate condition who were taken to Soroka Medical Center. Rescue teams were conducting a room-by-room search across three large residential buildings, which were evacuated. “There are hundreds of civilians here. We’ve moved residents to resilience centers with the municipality’s help and are trying to provide them with immediate support until longer-term solutions are arranged,” he said. He also warned that IDF Home Front Command soldiers were inside the structure and there was concern it could collapse.“We haven’t received any reports of missing persons but we want to be absolutely certain,” Bublil added. “The fatalities occurred due to a direct strike and unfortunately, even the fortified shelters suffered severe damage.”The deadly strike was part of a broader Iranian missile barrage that triggered air raid sirens across southern, central and northern Israel. Four people were killed and at least 22 others injured Tuesday morning when Iran fired six missile barrages in quick succession at Israel in the final hours before the intended start of a 7 a.m. ceasefire (Israel time) announced by US President Donald Trump. Both Israel and Iran subsequently said they had accepted the truce. However, shortly before 10:30 a.m., missiles were once again launched at Israel, leading Jerusalem to promise a forceful military response. Missiles repeatedly targeted the country’s center, north and south, starting shortly after 5 a.m., setting off sirens and sending millions of Israelis to bomb shelters. Two missiles were fired at Beersheba in a salvo at 5:40 a.m., with one being intercepted and another striking the sixth floor of an apartment complex in the southern city, causing extensive destruction, including collapsing part of the building. The building was relatively new, and homes had their own reinforced rooms. However, the missile directly hit two safe rooms, killing those inside them, according to a preliminary probe by Home Front Command. One of the bomb safe rooms was destroyed by the impact, the probe found. Israeli soldiers and rescue teams search for survivors amid the rubble of residential buildings destroyed by an Iranian missile strike that killed several people, in Beersheba, Israel, on June 24, 2025. (AP Photo/Leo Correa) The reinforced rooms are designed to sustain the shockwave of ballistic missiles as well as shrapnel — though not a direct strike from a large explosive warhead. Home Front Command says shelters are still the safest place to be during ballistic missile attacks. The Israeli Air Force was investigating why the missile was not intercepted by air defenses. The Magen David Adom emergency service identified three of the fatalities as a woman in her 40s, a man in his 40s and a man in his 20s. Details on the fourth were not immediately released. In addition to the four killed, MDA said it treated two others in moderate condition and 20 others lightly hurt or suffering acute anxiety. Three people were extracted alive from beneath the rubble. Other buildings nearby were also damaged. People evacuating a building next to an apartment block hit by an Iranian missile, where several people were killed, in Beersheba, Israel, June 24, 2025. (AP Photo/Bernat Armangue) Outside the ruined building, the shells of burned-out cars littered the streets. Broken glass and rubble covered the area. Hundreds of emergency workers gathered to search for anyone else trapped inside. Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba said the hospital was treating 10 people, two of whom were in moderate condition, with the rest lightly injured. The hospital was itself badly damaged by an Iranian missile on Thursday. Some 20 ballistic missiles were launched by Iran in the six Tuesday morning salvos, according to Israel Defense Forces assessments. Most of the missiles were intercepted by air defense systems. (AP Photo/Leo Correa) In Nof HaGalil in the north of the country, a man was seriously injured, apparently hurting himself while seeking shelter, medics said. The man suffered a head injury and was found unconscious, MDA reported. MDA said it did not receive any other reports of people who had injured themselves while running to shelters, a common occurrence during attacks. A Soroka Medical Center trauma team takes care of a wounded individual, June 24, 2025. (Courtesy/Soroka) The first barrage began around 5 a.m., and the final missile warnings arrived shortly after 7 a.m. Amid the attacks, sirens repeatedly went off throughout the country, with civilians repeatedly instructed to enter bomb shelters. Some three hours after the first barrage was fired, Home Front Command finally said people no longer needed to remain close to shelters. Strikes in Iran and ceasefire in question Meanwhile, the IDF said that in the morning hours, the Israel Air Force struck eight Iranian ballistic missile launchers in western Iran, which were primed to immediately fire at Israel. The military issued footage of the strikes. The airstrikes foiled a larger attack, according to the military. It was unclear if the strikes took place before the Iranian missile salvos or as they were launched. Trump said later that the ceasefire between Iran and Israel was in effect and called on the sides to adhere to it. Both Tehran and Jerusalem initially indicated they intended to do so. The Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement that “In light of achieving the objectives of the campaign, and in complete coordination with President Trump, Israel agreed to the president’s proposal for a mutual ceasefire.” “Israel will forcefully respond to any violation of the ceasefire,” the statement warned. Iran’s Press TV said that the ceasefire came into effect with the conclusion of the multiple missile barrages fired at Israel. But after missiles were once again fired at Israel at 10:30 a.m., Defense Minister Israel Katz said he had instructed the military to respond forcefully in Tehran. Heavy Israeli strikes had continued in Iranian cities in the early morning hours. Israeli Air Force fighter jets hit dozens of Iranian military targets in Tehran overnight, dropping over 100 munitions, IDF Spokesman Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin said in a press conference Tuesday morning. He said the strikes again targeted the “headquarters of the SPND nuclear project” and weapon production sites in the Iranian capital. Defrin also said that “the IDF fully met all of its objectives” that it had determined ahead of the war. “The chief of staff has instructed the IDF to remain on high alert and prepared for a powerful response to any violation of the ceasefire,” he said. Trump’s announcement that Israel and Iran had agreed to a “complete and total ceasefire” came soon after Iran launched a limited missile attack Monday on a US military base in Qatar, retaliating for the American bombing of its nuclear sites. The US was warned by Iran in advance, and there were no casualties. Trump’s announcement on Truth Social said the ceasefire beginning about midnight Washington time would bring an “Official END” to the war. Sunday’s US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities came nine days into Israel’s sweeping assault, which began June 13, targeting Iran’s top military leaders, nuclear scientists, uranium enrichment sites, and the country’s ballistic missile program. Israel said the campaign was necessary to prevent the Islamic Republic from realizing its declared plan to destroy the Jewish state. US President Donald Trump walks on the South Lawn upon arriving at the White House, Saturday, June 21, 2025, in Washington. (AP/Jose Luis Magana) Iran, which avowedly seeks Israel’s destruction, has consistently denied seeking to acquire nuclear weapons. However, it has enriched uranium to levels that have no peaceful application, has obstructed international inspectors from checking its nuclear facilities, and expanded its ballistic missile capabilities. Israel says Iran has recently taken steps toward weaponization. Iran retaliated to Israel’s attacks by launching over 550 ballistic missiles and around 1,000 drones at Israel. Iran’s missile attacks killed 28 people and wounded thousands in Israel, according to health officials and hospitals. Missiles have hit apartment buildings, a university, and a hospital, causing heavy damage.

24.06.2025 10:17 This morning, at approximately 05:45, Magen David Adom's 101 emergency dispatch center received reports of injuries resulting from a missile strike on a residential building in Be’er Sheva Large MDA forces were immediately dispatched to the scene, including ambulances, Mobile Intensive Care Units, and MDA medicycle first responders. Four casualties were pronounced dead at the scene. Thirteen others were evacuated to hospital: two in moderate condition, eight mildly injured, and three suffering from anxiety. MDA Senior EMT Shimrit Sela, who treated the injured at the scene: "We saw thick smoke rising from the area of the strike, and as we approached, we witnessed heavy damage to several buildings. Outside one of the buildings, we saw a man lying unconscious—unfortunately, after medical assessment, we had to pronounce him dead. When we entered the building to search further, we found a man and a woman unconscious, and sadly, we had to pronounce them dead at the scene as well. We established a casualty treatment point and conducted medical checks on residents who were evacuated from the buildings." MDA paramedic Dvir Ben Ze’ev, who also treated the injured, added: "We responded with large forces, including Mobile Intensive Care Units, ambulances, rapid response vehicles, and medicycles. We saw significant destruction across several buildings on the street where the rocket landed. At the entrance to one of the buildings, we found an unconscious man, and after thorough searches, we located two more casualties—a man and a woman—also unconscious. Despite our medical efforts, we had no choice but to pronounce them dead. After extended searches by Home Front Command teams, a fourth unconscious victim was located, and his death was pronounced at the scene. Additional MDA teams arriving on site provided medical care and evacuated more casualties to hospital." Yvette Shmilovitz had survived the Holocaust but was killed by an Iranian missile last week in Petah Tikva. Noa Bogonovsky and Eitan Zachs' lives had just begun—filled with promise and potential—and ended during a missile strike along with Michal Zachs' motherly love. Naomi Shaanan spent every day advocating on behalf of the hostages for their release and was also among the 29 people murdered in last week’s strike. This tragedy is yet another devastating loss and emphasizes the human destruction of the Iranian regime's terror. May the memories of Yvette, Noa, Eitan, Michal, Naomi and the 24 other innocent lives taken in the regime’s attacks be a blessing.

The first Israeli soldier has been killed as a result of Iranian strikes. The Israeli Defense Ministry said the man was 18-year-old Corporal Eitan Zachs from Beersheba, who was training in the multi-dimensional unit 888 Refaim. It is one of the youngest Israeli special forces units, formed in 2019 as part of a program to develop new combat tactics and adapt to changing threats and conditions on the modern battlefield. The unit is the embodiment of the concept of "Multi-Domain Operations" and consists of several branches of the armed forces, including infantry, engineering troops, armored troops, air force, artillery and reconnaissance units.

Soroka Hospital reported that "following the missile strike in Be'er Sheva, 26 injured people have been evacuated to the trauma room so far, two in moderate condition, and the rest in light condition."Shaanan, the fourth person killed in the missile strike, was a well-known activist in the movement calling for the return of Israeli hostages.“She stood every day with unwavering determination for the return of the hostages, for ending the war and for the sanctity of all human life. May her memory be a blessing—may their return be her legacy,” said fellow activists.Tania Zion-Waldkes, who often photographed her at demonstrations, described her as “a principled and kind-hearted partner in the struggle, one of the familiar smiling faces of the Be’er Sheva protests. She stood there from day one—until just yesterday.”6 View gallery Naomi Shaanan( צילום: תניא ציון וולדקס)One of the residents of the building that took the direct hit said that she entered the building following a warning from the Home Front Command, left after a while - then an alarm was activated and she and her family went back inside. "We entered quickly, and within a second there was such an explosion that we knew it was really close to us," she said. "That's all the fears. When we came out, we saw the destruction."Daniel Ben Zvi, who lives in a nearby building, said: "There's no house left. Everything is dismantled. It happened in seconds. As soon as we entered the MAMAD, we barely had time to close the door. My father flew and I caught him. The impact was beyond normal. It's impossible to describe it. When we left, our world was destroyed. It's just property. But still."6 View gallery Rescue workers in the ruins of the apartment building, that took a direct hit from an Iranian missile(Photo: Amir Cohen/Reuters)6 View gallery Rescue workers pull a young child from the rubble(Photo: Zeev Diekman)Magen David Adom set up a point at the scene to treat the injured, and the teams conducted medical examinations on the residents who left the buildings. These are several buildings that have a commercial center on their ground floors. Vehicles parked there were completely burned, and great destruction was also caused to the stores and the entire area. The deadly strike was part of a broader Iranian missile barrage that triggered air raid sirens across southern, central and northern Israel. Initial reports indicated that two missiles were intercepted in the first wave.

Boguslavsky, a resident of the city of Arad, was visiting her boyfriend, off-duty IDF soldier Eitan Zacks, who was also killed in the strike, Hebrew media reports. Iran denied violating the ceasefire. The armed forces general staff denied that there had been any launch of missiles towards Israel in recent hours, Iran's Nour News reported. The developments raised early doubts about the ceasefire, intended to end 12 days of war.Katz said in a statement he had ordered the military to "continue high-intensity operations targeting regime assets and terror infrastructure in Tehran" in light of "Iran’s blatant violation of the ceasefire declared by the President of the United States."Hours earlier, Trump had posted on Truth Social: "THE CEASEFIRE IS NOW IN EFFECT. PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT!"Both Israel and Iran had confirmed the ceasefire after it was announced by Trump.Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel had achieved the goals it had set in launching its June 13 surprise attack on Iran, to destroy its nuclear programme and missile capabilities."Israel thanks President Trump and the United States for their support in defence and their participation in eliminating the Iranian nuclear threat," Netanyahu had said.Iran says its nuclear programme is solely for peaceful purposes and denies seeking to develop nuclear weapons.Iran's top security body, the Supreme National Security Council, said its military had forced Israel to "unilaterally accept defeat and accept a ceasefire".Iran's forces would "keep their hands on the trigger" to respond to "any act of aggression by the enemy", it said.Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi had earlier said that Iran would halt its retaliatory strikes provided that Israel stopped attacking as of 4:00 a.m. in Tehran.Global stock markets surged and oil prices tumbled on Tuesday after the announcement of the ceasefire, in the hope it heralded a resolution of the war just two days after the United States joined it by hitting Iranian nuclear sites with huge bunker-busting bombs.
