Airwars Assessment
(Previous Incident Code: S181)
A single source, the Syrian Observatory, reported that “no less than 13 IS [fighters] were killed by aerial bombardment by the Coalition warplanes in Jarablus, in addition to four detainees were also killed during the same airstrikes.”
The Observatory’s Arabic-language report said the detainees were carrying out as punishment duty the digging of trenches for ISIS around the city of Jarablus.
In the first of their March 2020 civilian casualty reports, the US-led Coalition assessed reports that they were responsible for civilian harm in this strike as “non-credible”, stating that no Coalition actions were conducted in the geographical area at that time.
