In an incident not previously tracked by Airwars, the Coalition later confirmed the injury of a civilian in a strike on ISIS headquarters in al Tabaqah.

Their August 2017 civilian casualty report noted: “During a strike on an ISIS headquarters, after reviewing post-strike video, it was assessed that one civilian, who was not observed near the target during the engagement, was unintentionally injured.”

The Coalition provided Airwars with the location of this incident, accurate to within a one metre box. The location given placed the event in Ishtiqariyah.

For May 7th-8th, the Coalition reported: “Near Raqqah, four strikes engaged an ISIS tactical unit and destroyed 13 ISIS barges and two excavators. Near Tabqah, 15 strikes engaged seven ISIS tactical units and destroyed eight fighting positions and a vehicle.” It later added that “Additionally, two strikes were conducted in Syria on May 7th that closed within the last 24 hours. Near Tabqah, Syria, two strikes engaged two ISIS tactical units and destroyed a fighting position.” For May 8th-9th: “Near Raqqah, three strikes engaged an ISIS tactical unit; destroyed five weapons storage caches and an ISIS barge. Near Tabqah, eight strikes engaged seven ISIS tactical units and destroyed five fighting positions.” It later added that “Additionally, four strikes were conducted in Syria on May 8 that closed within the last 24 hours. Near Tabqah, Syria, four strikes engaged an ISIS tactical unit; destroyed a fighting position and a mortar system; and damaged an ISIS supply route.”
