Airwars assessment
Eight civilians, including a child, were killed and “many” others were wounded in Al Soor in northern Deir Ezzor following airstrikes allegedly carried out by the Coalition, local sources reported.
Sharqiya Voice and Al Jisr TV reported that the strikes hit a shopping area of the city, which were believed to have targeted the “consumer association” building, causing substantial damage to nearby shops.
Four of six sources alleged that the Coalition was responsible.
In November 2017 the Coalition accepted responsibility for this allegation of civilian harm. Their monthly civilian casualty report noted: “During a Coalition strike that destroyed a Daesh headquarters and weapon storage facility, it was assessed that one civilian was unintentionally killed and two civilians were unintentionally injured.”
The local time of the incident is unknown.
Geolocation notes
Prior to the Coalition releasing the MGRS for this incident, Airwars had geolocated it to the nearest village at 35.5081949, 40.6549072
