Airwars Assessment

Last Updated: December 15, 2024

(Previous Incident Code: S1346)

Multiple local sources reported that one civilian, Mr. Khalil Ibrahim Al-Zaher, was killed as he tried “to get out of the city of Deir al-Zour near the Husseiniya crossing on the Euphrates River after an air raid.”

Sources didn’t say who was responsible for the strike.

The US-led Coalition informed Airwars that as a result of their deconfliction agreements- they have ceased to conduct strikes entirely in Deir Ezzor city.

In their August 2020 civilian casualty report, the US-led Coalition assessed reports that they were responsible for civilian harm in this strike as “non-credible”, stating that no Coalition actions were conducted in the geographical area at that time.
