Airwars Assessment

Last Updated: December 15, 2024

(Previous Incident Code: S1634)

A single source, the Smart News Agency, reported that “a child and a person were killed by an SDF artillery bombardment on the town of Sousse”.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also reported that SDF artillery targeted al Soussa, “causing material damage” – though it said there was no information on civilian harm at the time of reporting.

It is Airwars’ understanding that only the Coalition had access to artillery in Deir Ezzor.

No further details are currently available.

In the second of their September 2020 civilian casualty reports, the US-led Coalition assessed reports that they were responsible for civilian harm in this strike as “non-credible”, stating that no Coalition actions were conducted in the geographical area at that time.
