An alleged Coalition night time airstrike targeted a prison killing a number of prisoners, according to local media sources.
Most sources report that among the victims were both ISIS and civilian prisoners.
According to Furat FM, at least 11 members of ISIS were killed. Among others Orient News, Smart News and Step News Agency reported however that among the victims were civilian prisoners as well, although the exact numbers remained unknown.
Shaam News for example reported that “International Alliance aircraft launched air strikes targeting an Islamic State prison in Hajin city, killing and wounding many prisoners in addition to members of the organization.”
In its October 2020 monthly civilian casualty review, the US-led Coalition classed this event as ‘non credible’, asserting that “After a review of all available records it was assessed that no Coalition actions were conducted in the geographical area that corresponds to the report of civilian casualties.”
