Airwars assessment
Euphrates Post reported that a number of civilians alongside members of ISIL were killed following airstrikes in Deir Ezzor, near the “car exhibition area”, the Yamamah school and ISIL’s armoury near the Alkhabra Company.
Responsibility for the attack was not apportioned by the source.
Other sources reported Coalition strikes in the vicinity of the school.
According to RFS media office, the Coalition “launched two air raids targeting an exhibition of cars and the Yamamah school in the city, which resulted in the light injury of 6 citizens civilians”.
In May 2018 the Coalition announced that it had classed this allegation of civilian harm as non-credible, noting: “After a review of available information it was assessed that no Coalition strikes were conducted in the geographical area that correspond to the report of civilian casualties.”
After re-opening the investigation, the Coalition reached a non-credible conclusion again in July 2019. Their monthly civilian harm report noted: “After a review of all available records it was determined that, more likely than not, civilian casualties did not occur as a result of a Coalition action.”
The local time of the incident is unknown.
