Airwars assessment

Families were reportedly “trapped underneath the rubble” following alleged Russian, regime or US-led Coalition airstrikes on neighbourhoods of Al Mayadin.

RFS said Russian and regime aircraft “carried out dozens of heavy air raids on the neighborhoods of Deir al-Zour under the control of the organization Da’ash with cluster bombs and rockets”. The source said that “warplanes carried out similar raids” on al Mayadin and Al-Shuhail resulting in four civilian casualties. It is important to note that RFS acknowledged the presence of the US-led Coalition in and around the city of Al Mayadin.

Qasioun said Russian warplanes conducted “more than 30” strikes on Al Mayadin and surrounding areas, and suspected that there were “dozens of civilians killed and wounded”. A number of civilians were killed and wounded by both Russian and Coalition aircraft in Deir Ezzor according to Baladi, who attributed the victims’ under the rubble to “shelling by the Coalition”.

The local time of the incident is unknown.
