On the night of March 7-8, 2026, nine family members were killed in an alleged Israeli airstrike on the town of Tuffahta in the Sidon District of southern Lebanon. Kamal Hassan Ezzedine and his wife, Zahra Ezzedine, were killed along with their sons, Hassan Kamal Ezzedine, Mahmoud Kamal Ezzedine, and Emad Kamal Ezzedine, and their daughter, Jana Kamal Ezzedine. Their family members, Samer Ezzedine, Haitham Ezzedine, and Mahdi Abu Raya were killed in the alleged Israeli bombing of their multi-storey home. Sources mentioned “several” people injured, but the names of those casualties are currently unknown.
Around 12:00 a.m. on March 8, Quds News Network, ZAMANALWSL – زمان الوص, and others reported (via Twitter/X) “eight martyrs as a result of an air raid launched by [Israeli] aircraft on the town of Tuffahta, Sidon district, southern Lebanon.” Journalist Fouad Khreiss posted a grainy video to Twitter/X showing debris scattered over a vehicle and an open area nearby and reported “a large number of martyrs in the massacre in the town of Tuffahta…ambulance teams are heading to the scene.” At about 5:00 a.m. on March 8, Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) reported that “initial information indicates the martyrdom of a family consisting of eight people.” According to @janoub24website, @Janobiyat Press جنوبيات برس @ ,جنوب لبنان / South Lebanon and others, “[Israeli] forces targeted a three-story residential building in the town of Tuffahta…belonging to the Ezzedine family, resulting in eight martyrs.” A similar report by Fouad Khreiss mentioned that the strike had resulted in “several injuries” as well. According to Lebanon Debate, the Ezzedine family home was located in the Al-Duhur neighborhood of Tuffahta.
Around 09:00 a.m. on March 8, @موقع المروانية (Marwaniyya Site) announced the “martyrdom of Kamal Ezzedine, his wife Zahra Ezzedine, their children Hassan, Mahmoud, and Jana Kamal Ezzedine, their cousins Samer Ezzedine and Haitham Ezzedine, and one of their relatives, Mahdi Abu Raya” and shared a series of charming portraits of the victims. The news outlet noted that “civil defense and ambulance teams worked throughout the night and until morning to recover the martyrs’ bodies from under the rubble.” Though this and other earlier reports claimed that eight people were killed, numerous posts by mourners included Kamal and Zahra’s son Emad as the ninth “martyr” in this attack.
In the aftermath of the alleged Israeli strike, Facebook account الصّفحة الرّسمية “بلدية تفاحتا” (The official page of “Tuffahta Municipality”) wrote, “with hearts that believe in God’s decree and destiny, filled with sorrow and embraced by pride and contentment, the municipality of Tafahata sends its dear sons to the place of martyrdom, who ascended as martyrs on the path of truth and dignity.” The account also shared smiling portraits of each of the nine family members. Other accounts such as موقع يا صور (Ya Sour website), Teffahta تفاحتا, جنوب لبنان (South Lebanon), Yajnoub 2 موقع ياجنوب, and أبو ريا فا طمة (Abu Raya Fa Fatma) shared photos commemorating the victims as well.
Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strikes to Israeli forces.
