On Thursday, July 17, 2025, two civilians were reportedly injured and one Hezbollah commander was killed in a declared Israeli airstrike or drone strike on a vehicle on the Toul-Kfour highway near Al-Kfour, Nabatieh, in the south of Lebanon.

The man killed in the incident was identified as Hassan Ahmed Sabra, who served as a naval commander in the Hezbollah Radwan force. Multiple local media sources reported the deceased’s affiliation with Hezbollah in their social media coverage, including Al-Arabiya and Al-Jazeera Mubasher, which directly referred to statements by the Israeli military and shared video footage of the strike.

Israeli Defense Forces confirmed the strike killing Hassan Sabra in a post on their Telegram channel at 15:50, writing, “Earlier today (Thursday), the IDF struck and eliminated the terrorist Hassan Ahmad Sabra, a Naval Commander in Hezbollah’s Radwan Force, in the area of Al-Kfour in southern Lebanon.” The IDF also added footage of the strike.

The incident was broadly covered by local news outlets on social media. Al-Hadath News and The New Arab, who quoted the Lebanese Ministry of Health, posted on Facebook that two people had been injured and one person had been killed during the strike. Facebook users Dalia Hamade and al-Hawana Lebanon mentioned that an unconfirmed number of residents of Jebchit had been injured during the incident. However, Airwars could not identify any further information regarding the injuries.

Esraa Fahes, who appears to have known Hassan, expressed his grief in a Facebook post, tagging other users, including apparent members of Hassan’s family and the account “Hasan Sabra,” which uses a profile picture showing Hassan in military uniform and contains multiple references to Hassan Nasrallah. Esraa’s post further included several photographs of the deceased depicting Hassan in either military attire or a dark green vest bearing the Hezbollah logo, as well as a green headband inscribed with “our holy master” and containing a secured photograph of Hassan Nasrallah. Similar photographs appear in Facebook posts by other media sources, including Al-Hadath, Nabatieh TV or Al-Hawana Lebanon. This information further confirms Hassan’s combatant status with Hezbollah.

The death of another Hezbollah member is mentioned by some sources, but this reference is likely connected to a different incident in the Naqoura area.

Where specified, sources described the incident either as an airstrike, a drone strike, or a raid. Various sources further reported that the airstrike struck a vehicle, as supported by video footage and images showing the vehicle burning and producing a black column of smoke on the roadside in the Al-Kfour area, next to multiple fir-like trees. A black-and-white video, released by the Israeli military, depicts a vehicle moving along the reported route shortly before being struck by a likely airstrike, with the footage capturing the strike and further confirming the assessed type of attack.

Almost all available sources placed the location of the incident in Al-Kfour, a town in Nabatieh in the south of Lebanon.

Although the Israeli forces declared the strike, they fell short of acknowledging the civilian harm resulting from it. Therefore, Airwars has graded the strike status of the incident as “declared” and civilian harm as “fair.”
