Two men were killed and 27 were reported injured in an alleged Israeli bombardment on the town of Tibnin in southern Lebanon on 25 September, 2024.
Mohammed Fawaz and Mahdi Saeed Fawaz were both reported killed. Mohammed was remembered as a “Hajj”, indicating he had completed the Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca. Twitter/X user @eiderkamp shared a collage of the two men: Mohammed is middle-aged and wearing a blue shirt, and Mahdi – a young man – sports a green t-shirt. Friend Fady Hodroj posted a remembrance message on Facebook, sharing his “deepest condolences to [his] dear friend Saeed Fawaz for the loss of his beloved son Mahdi”. He shared a photograph of Mahdi in a blazer, possibly at a congratulatory event, holding an embossed binder or notebook.
The severity of the injuries and the names of those wounded was not made available, though multiple sources reported that at least 27 individuals had been injured following a statement made by a Lebanese Health Ministry official.
Quoting the Lebanese Health Minister, Al-Arabiya News (@AlArabiya_Brk) wrote that the strike “targeted [a] government hospital”. User @raniajber1 confirmed that the strike targeted “the vicinity” of the hospital, while @alakhbarleb alleged it hit a residence. A video shared by Twitter/X user @Annahar showed the aftermath of the strike: opaque plumes of smoke rising above apartment buildings.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all pointed to the Israeli military.
