On Thursday, the 26th of September 2024, an alleged Israeli attack caused five civilians to be wounded in Burj al-Shamali, in the Tyre district of Southern Lebanon, as reported by the Public Health Emergency Operations Center of the Ministry of Public Health. The strike also resulted in the destruction of Zaher restaurant in the city.
Al Mayadeen correspondent Ali Mortada reported the incident, standing near the damaged buildings in Burj al-Shamali. The video shows the building of the restaurant with its lower part destroyed and turned into rubble. Ali Mortada said the following in the video:
“I am standing now in the town of Burj al-Shamali at the entrance to inspect the targets that are being hit by Israeli warplanes. Here on the side of the road is this civilian residential building, and this is a restaurant called Zaher Restaurant. This restaurant was targeted by an Israeli airstrike that led to its destruction and the destruction of the upper floors above it. We will go in with the camera to show this commercial establishment that was exposed to the raids. This is a sample of the raids carried out by the Israeli Air Force, which they say are Hezbollah missile platforms and so on. They insist on propaganda that there are missiles inside these buildings, and as we see, this is a restaurant, these are civilian homes, and a civilian building. In the military sense, a missile cannot be hidden inside a civilian building.”
Multiple sources indicated the strike consisted of “raids”, which Airwars considers to be airstrikes.
Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to the Israeli military.
