A 27-year-old mother of three from the a-Daraj neighborhood in Gaza City, Riham described losing her husband and two brothers in the war and remaining alone with her young children in an IDP campUntil the war, I lived with my late husband, Majdi a-Rifi, 32, and our three children, Majdi, 7, Khulud, 5, and Maher, 7 months, along with my husband's family in the al-Daraj neighborhood in Gaza City.There was heavy bombing in our area, but we didn’t leave home. My husband was a vegetable vendor and once in a while he managed to sell some vegetables, and that's how we made a living. On 2 November 2023, my husband went out with his cousin Zaki a-Rifi and some others to try and sell vegetables so we could buy necessities, especially diapers for Maher. I tried to persuade him not to go because I was afraid, there were bombings around us all the time. But he insisted and said they were civilians that weren’t endangering anyone. Zaki came back after 20 minutes, badly injured in his hand, and said my husband was killed. My mother-in-law started screaming, and I went into shock. It took time before I started crying. I couldn't believe it happened. I couldn't speak at all. There was shooting at passersby outside, and I couldn't go out to look for Majdi's body.Zaki's family took him to a-Shifaa Hospital, where he had surgery and his hand was amputated. Later that day, an ambulance brought Majdi’s body home, and we parted with him in sorrow and grief. We cried a lot. My children cried over their father. It was a very painful farewell. One minute my husband was with us, and the next he popped out and never came back. A week later, my two brothers, Fakher Maher a-Rifi, 30, and Yasser a-Rifi, 23, were killed out on the street when a house was bombed in a-Shati Refugee Camp. I choke up whenever I try to talk about them. I loved them so much, and the news of their death struck me and my mother like lightning. We both started screaming and crying. My brothers were everything to me. When I saw them, I lost my mind. I felt shaken to the core when I saw them. My husband and my brothers within one week! I couldn't handle what happened to me – losing my loved ones, my husband and my brothers.After my husband and my two brothers were killed, I moved with the children and my family south to Khan Yunis and we settled in a school that was turned into an IDP camp. My husband's parents stayed home in Gaza.A month after my husband was killed, his sister Ramziyah a-Rifi, 27, and her children, ‘Udai, 7, and Sabah, 4, were killed when their house was bombed. Ramziyah's body was not extracted. She’s still under the rubble. The body of her daughter was found on the street with a hand missing. Then, two weeks later, my husband's cousin Mumtaz a-Rifi, 16, was killed riding a donkey cart to get water for his family from western Gaza. A tank shell was fired at them.When the Israeli army demolished the IDP camp in Khan Yunis, we had to move to Rafah. Now I'm here alone with my children, in Rafah, in a tent made of bits of wood and nylon. Sometimes my brother Da’ud comes to sleep with us, because I'm afraid to sleep alone.We’re living in very difficult conditions. We have no money and we can't buy food at all. Vegetables or meat are out of the question. I send the children every day to get food from the soup house in the IDP camp. They bring dishes like mujadara, beans and rice, and we also get tinned food. I’ve lost a lot of weight. Our tent isn’t even fit for animals to live in. I'm also very lonely. It’s hard dealing with the children alone, especially when they’re suffering so much. They became orphans at such a young age, and they’re lacking so much here.The food is very unhealthy and contaminated. The toilets are filthy, too, and Khulud got hepatitis from them. I don't have enough clothes for the children, either.Now it's Ramadan, and we're eating the meals to break the fast alone. They’re very meager meals that we get from the soup house. In the early morning, I can't find anything for the pre-dawn meal before the fast begins, so I just drink water and go back to sleep. Sometimes, if I get a little money, I buy two tomatoes, one eggplant and two potatoes, prepare something and eat with my children.I can't get formula for baby Maher and I had to wean him. I get diapers from the school.My husband was everything to me, and I lost him forever. Now I'm a widow. My children are orphans, and they were robbed of their father's love and compassion. They ask me about him every day and talk about him with longing, especially Khulud, who was his pampered girl. All I can do is show them pictures of him on the phone.Majdi has become very aggressive. He hasn’t got over his father's death. Now we're homeless, camping here, and I have no strength. I'm tired, mentally shattered and so sad. My life ended when I lost my husband. The Palestinian Americans, who live in Maple Grove, Minnesota, say it’s been over a week since they learned 42 relatives were killed in the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, and they’re still unable to fully comprehend the news. Hamouda says his wife, whose maiden name is Saqallah, lost four brothers, a sister and most of their children when two explosions destroyed the Saqallah family compound on October 19 in the Sheikh Ejleen neighborhood of Gaza City. Hamouda and the family say it was an Israeli airstrike. Israel has launched numerous airstrikes on Gaza City since October 7, including multiple strikes in the area that day. CNN cannot independently confirm that it was an Israeli strike. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it could not comment without coordinates of the house. The family declined to provide CNN with the coordinates for fear of reprisal. A video shot by a neighbor and provided to CNN shows what is left of the family compound; charred ruins and rubble, of what relatives say used to be three buildings, now surrounded by virtually untouched homes in the residential area. “Up until last night, she is still denying [what happened],” Hamouda told CNN on Thursday, referring to Manal. But the grief being felt in their Midwestern home is very real. “She loves every member of her family. She spent the summer with them,” explained Hamouda, who says he and his wife are originally from the same neighborhood in Gaza but have lived in Minnesota since 2004. There has been fear and numerous conflicts between Israel and militant groups in Gaza since then, but nothing like this, he says. Israel declared war on Hamas on October 7, after the militant group broke through the barrier that separates Gaza from Israel and killed more than 1,400 people, including civilians and military personnel, and abducted over 220 others, according to Israeli authorities. In response, Israel launched devastating airstrikes on Gaza. It says it wants to destroy Hamas, which governs the coastal territory. But 2.2 million Palestinians living there, unable to escape with closed Israeli and Egyptian border crossings, are caught in the crossfire. Israeli airstrikes have killed at least 8,485 Palestinians and injured more than 21,000 others, according to the latest figures released by the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Ramallah, drawn from sources in the Hamas-controlled enclave. Another 1.4 million people have been internally displaced, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs says, after the IDF warned residents in northern Gaza to move south. But Hamouda doesn’t have time to properly mourn the dead, he says, as he is still worried about what will happen to those who’ve so far survived. ‘Your whole world stops’ In South Florida, Manal’s cousin Eyad Abu Shaban is equally distraught. “It’s like your whole world stops,” he said. “It’s not one, two, three, or four – it is 42 members, it’s really hard to cope with.” Abu Shaban says the deceased range in age from three months to 77. They were all staying in a single compound. His uncle, Essam Abu Shaban, wife Layla Saqallah and their son Ahmed were among those killed. To avoid Israeli airstrikes, they had evacuated the nearby Tel El Hawa neighborhood and sought refuge in the Saqallah’s home, Abu Shaban says. Before the airstrikes, the IDF called to say there could be military activity in the area, but they were never told to evacuate their home, Hamouda says surviving family members told him. “They have bombed houses with warnings and without warnings,” he said, lamenting there is a lot of fear, confusion and nowhere to go. His mother-in-law was on a balcony when the first strike hit, Hamouda says. She was able to flee with the help of a relative who also survived. A second strike completely destroyed the compound, killing dozens of relatives, he says. A video shot by surviving family members and provided to CNN shows the numerous bodies – wrapped in white burial shrouds – being placed into a mass grave. “My mother-in-law said her sons tried to evacuate, but they had no time,” Hamouda said, adding that his family was not involved in militant activity and that they “had nothing to do with anything at all.” Abu Shaban, a Boca Raton real estate developer, said the family were only civilians, and counted numerous medical professionals among them. Of Manal’s four brothers – Saed, Omar, Ameed and Khorsheed – three were eye doctors; the other was an ENT doctor. Hamouda says they operated Gaza’s largest network of family-owned eye clinics. “We have no Hamas members [in our family]. They’re just ordinary people: doctors and grandmothers and grandfathers and uncles and aunts and children,” Abu Shaban said. “I mean, if you want to exterminate Hamas then you should go to the source.” Pleading for a ceasefire The Maple Grove community has since rallied around the Hamouda family, showering them with love and support. Community members visited the nearby Brooklyn Park Islamic Center last week to pray for the family. A staff member from Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s Minnesota office even called to offer condolences and extend an offer of assistance, Hamouda says. But all Hamouda and Abu Shaban want is for the killing to stop. “We’ve never seen in this day and age where the whole world is watching innocent people just being torn apart. Families, whole families, just wiped off the map,” Abu Shaban said. “I want everybody to know that the people of Gaza are just like them, they hurt, they bleed, they have families, they have feelings.” Photos and videos of the conflict flooding social media are too much to bear, he says. Activists, human rights groups and international officials have all called for a ceasefire, but the war rages on, and has witnessed a new phase of dangerous ground operations. Until the killing stops, Abu Shaban says his family still reels: “I’m still in this nightmare. The Palestinian Americans, who live in Maple Grove, Minnesota, say it’s been over a week since they learned 42 relatives were killed in the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, and they’re still unable to fully comprehend the news. Hamouda says his wife, whose maiden name is Saqallah, lost four brothers, a sister and most of their children when two explosions destroyed the Saqallah family compound on October 19 in the Sheikh Ejleen neighborhood of Gaza City. Hamouda and the family say it was an Israeli airstrike. Israel has launched numerous airstrikes on Gaza City since October 7, including multiple strikes in the area that day. CNN cannot independently confirm that it was an Israeli strike. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it could not comment without coordinates of the house. The family declined to provide CNN with the coordinates for fear of reprisal. A video shot by a neighbor and provided to CNN shows what is left of the family compound; charred ruins and rubble, of what relatives say used to be three buildings, now surrounded by virtually untouched homes in the residential area. “Up until last night, she is still denying [what happened],” Hamouda told CNN on Thursday, referring to Manal. But the grief being felt in their Midwestern home is very real. “She loves every member of her family. She spent the summer with them,” explained Hamouda, who says he and his wife are originally from the same neighborhood in Gaza but have lived in Minnesota since 2004. There has been fear and numerous conflicts between Israel and militant groups in Gaza since then, but nothing like this, he says. Israel declared war on Hamas on October 7, after the militant group broke through the barrier that separates Gaza from Israel and killed more than 1,400 people, including civilians and military personnel, and abducted over 220 others, according to Israeli authorities. Israeli airstrikes have killed at least 8,485 Palestinians and injured more than 21,000 others, according to the latest figures released by the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Ramallah, drawn from sources in the Hamas-controlled enclave. Another 1.4 million people have been internally displaced, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs says, after the IDF warned residents in northern Gaza to move south. But Hamouda doesn’t have time to properly mourn the dead, he says, as he is still worried about what will happen to those who’ve so far survived. ‘Your whole world stops’ In South Florida, Manal’s cousin Eyad Abu Shaban is equally distraught. “It’s like your whole world stops,” he said. “It’s not one, two, three, or four – it is 42 members, it’s really hard to cope with.” Abu Shaban says the deceased range in age from three months to 77. They were all staying in a single compound. His uncle, Essam Abu Shaban, wife Layla Saqallah and their son Ahmed were among those killed. To avoid Israeli airstrikes, they had evacuated the nearby Tel El Hawa neighborhood and sought refuge in the Saqallah’s home, Abu Shaban says. Before the airstrikes, the IDF called to say there could be military activity in the area, but they were never told to evacuate their home, Hamouda says surviving family members told him. “They have bombed houses with warnings and without warnings,” he said, lamenting there is a lot of fear, confusion and nowhere to go. His mother-in-law was on a balcony when the first strike hit, Hamouda says. She was able to flee with the help of a relative who also survived. A second strike completely destroyed the compound, killing dozens of relatives, he says. A video shot by surviving family members and provided to CNN shows the numerous bodies – wrapped in white burial shrouds – being placed into a mass grave. “My mother-in-law said her sons tried to evacuate, but they had no time,” Hamouda said, adding that his family was not involved in militant activity and that they “had nothing to do with anything at all.” Abu Shaban, a Boca Raton real estate developer, said the family were only civilians, and counted numerous medical professionals among them. Of Manal’s four brothers – Saed, Omar, Ameed and Khorsheed – three were eye doctors; the other was an ENT doctor. Hamouda says they operated Gaza’s largest network of family-owned eye clinics. “We have no Hamas members [in our family]. They’re just ordinary people: doctors and grandmothers and grandfathers and uncles and aunts and children,” Abu Shaban said. “I mean, if you want to exterminate Hamas then you should go to the source.” Pleading for a ceasefire The Maple Grove community has since rallied around the Hamouda family, showering them with love and support. Community members visited the nearby Brooklyn Park Islamic Center last week to pray for the family. A staff member from Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s Minnesota office even called to offer condolences and extend an offer of assistance, Hamouda says. But all Hamouda and Abu Shaban want is for the killing to stop. “We’ve never seen in this day and age where the whole world is watching innocent people just being torn apart. Families, whole families, just wiped off the map,” Abu Shaban said. “I want everybody to know that the people of Gaza are just like them, they hurt, they bleed, they have families, they have feelings.” Photos and videos of the conflict flooding social media are too much to bear, he says. Activists, human rights groups and international officials have all called for a ceasefire, but the war rages on, and has witnessed a new phase of dangerous ground operations. Until the killing stops, Abu Shaban says his family still reels: “I’m still in this nightmare. The Palestinian Americans, who live in Maple Grove, Minnesota, say it’s been over a week since they learned 42 relatives were killed in the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, and they’re still unable to fully comprehend the news. Hamouda says his wife, whose maiden name is Saqallah, lost four brothers, a sister and most of their children when two explosions destroyed the Saqallah family compound on October 19 in the Sheikh Ejleen neighborhood of Gaza City. Hamouda and the family say it was an Israeli airstrike. Israel has launched numerous airstrikes on Gaza City since October 7, including multiple strikes in the area that day. CNN cannot independently confirm that it was an Israeli strike. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it could not comment without coordinates of the house. The family declined to provide CNN with the coordinates for fear of reprisal. A video shot by a neighbor and provided to CNN shows what is left of the family compound; charred ruins and rubble, of what relatives say used to be three buildings, now surrounded by virtually untouched homes in the residential area. “Up until last night, she is still denying [what happened],” Hamouda told CNN on Thursday, referring to Manal. But the grief being felt in their Midwestern home is very real. “She loves every member of her family. She spent the summer with them,” explained Hamouda, who says he and his wife are originally from the same neighborhood in Gaza but have lived in Minnesota since 2004. There has been fear and numerous conflicts between Israel and militant groups in Gaza since then, but nothing like this, he says. Israel declared war on Hamas on October 7, after the militant group broke through the barrier that separates Gaza from Israel and killed more than 1,400 people, including civilians and military personnel, and abducted over 220 others, according to Israeli authorities. In response, Israel launched devastating airstrikes on Gaza. It says it wants to destroy Hamas, which governs the coastal territory. But 2.2 million Palestinians living there, unable to escape with closed Israeli and Egyptian border crossings, are caught in the crossfire. Israeli airstrikes have killed at least 8,485 Palestinians and injured more than 21,000 others, according to the latest figures released by the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Ramallah, drawn from sources in the Hamas-controlled enclave. Another 1.4 million people have been internally displaced, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs says, after the IDF warned residents in northern Gaza to move south. But Hamouda doesn’t have time to properly mourn the dead, he says, as he is still worried about what will happen to those who’ve so far survived. ‘Your whole world stops’ In South Florida, Manal’s cousin Eyad Abu Shaban is equally distraught. “It’s like your whole world stops,” he said. “It’s not one, two, three, or four – it is 42 members, it’s really hard to cope with.” Abu Shaban says the deceased range in age from three months to 77. They were all staying in a single compound. His uncle, Essam Abu Shaban, wife Layla Saqallah and their son Ahmed were among those killed. To avoid Israeli airstrikes, they had evacuated the nearby Tel El Hawa neighborhood and sought refuge in the Saqallah’s home, Abu Shaban says. Before the airstrikes, the IDF called to say there could be military activity in the area, but they were never told to evacuate their home, Hamouda says surviving family members told him. “They have bombed houses with warnings and without warnings,” he said, lamenting there is a lot of fear, confusion and nowhere to go. His mother-in-law was on a balcony when the first strike hit, Hamouda says. She was able to flee with the help of a relative who also survived. A second strike completely destroyed the compound, killing dozens of relatives, he says. A video shot by surviving family members and provided to CNN shows the numerous bodies – wrapped in white burial shrouds – being placed into a mass grave. “My mother-in-law said her sons tried to evacuate, but they had no time,” Hamouda said, adding that his family was not involved in militant activity and that they “had nothing to do with anything at all.” Abu Shaban, a Boca Raton real estate developer, said the family were only civilians, and counted numerous medical professionals among them. Wednesday, 26 Rabi' al-Awwal 1445 AH, corresponding to October 11, 2023, 9:18:49 PM Occupied Jerusalem – Saba: The death toll from the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, now in its fifth consecutive day, rose to 1,100 martyrs and 5,339 wounded on Wednesday. The Palestinian news agency "Palestine Today" quoted the Gaza Ministry of Health in a brief statement saying: "The martyrs and wounded as a result of the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip: 1,100 martyrs and approximately 5,339 wounded." The Ministry of Health announced earlier that four people, including two women and a child, were killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Baraka family home in the al-Ma'ani area, east of Deir al-Balah. Earlier, ten bodies were recovered from the al-Karama neighborhood, which was almost completely destroyed overnight, bringing the total number of martyrs in the neighborhood to more than 20. The brutal Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip has displaced more than 200,000 of its 2.4 million residents. People live in the sector, which has been under siege by the Zionist occupation for more than 17 years.

الأربعاء، 26 ربيع الأول 1445هـ الموافق 11 أكتوبر 2023 الساعة 21:18:49 القدس المحتلة – سبأ:ارتفعت حصيلة ضحايا العدوان الصهيوني المتواصل على قطاع غزة لليوم الخامس على التوالي، اليوم الأربعاء، إلى 1100 شهيد و5339 جريح.ونقلت وكالة "فلسطين اليوم" عن وزارة الصحة بغزة في بيان مقتضب، القول: "الشهداء والجرحى جرّاء عدوان الكيان الصهيوني على قطاع غزة: 1100 شهيداً ونحو 5339 جريحاً ".وأعلنت وزارة الصحة قبل قليل، عن ارتقاء أربعة شهداء بينهم سيدتان وطفلة في قصف العدو الصهيوني لمنزل عائلة بركة في منطقة المعني شرق دير البلح .وفي وقت سابق تم انتشال عشرة شهداء من حي الكرامة الذي دمر بشكل شبه كامل الليلة ليرتفع عدد المجزرة بالحي إلى أكثر من 20 شهيداً .وتسبب العدوان الصهيوني الهمجي على القطاع في نزوح أكثر من 200 ألف مواطن من أصل 2,4 مليون نسمة يعيشون في القطاع، الذي يحاصره الاحتلال الصهيوني منذ أكثر من 17 عاما.
