A 13-year-old special needs boy was killed by alleged Israeli tank gunfire while on his way home near Jabalia Refugee Camp on February 14, 2026.
Islam Akram Al-Madhoun posted an announcement on Facebook that her nephew Karim Abed Wadoud Mahmoud al-Madhoun had been missing since he left Shadia School at 9 a.m., adding that “some people have said he crossed the yellow line.” Tragically, a post from Nada Elshall reported that a 13-year-old special needs boy named Karim Abed Wadoud Mahmoud al-Madhoun was killed while on his way home east of Jabalia Refugee Camp. Nour Abu Rkbeh added details that Karim had been collecting firewood when he was shot by Israeli forces and died.
In a heartbreaking post from Karim’s father, Abed expressed the pain at losing his firstborn son, “a child who did not exceed thirteen years of age,” and expressed frustration at the fact that two days after his death medical teams still had not been able to retrieve his body because of the lack of cooperation of Israeli forces. Abed’s post included a picture of young Karim wearing a tan polo shirt.
The Al-Madoun family continued to plead for the ability to collect their son’s body, with Nour Abu Rkbeh reporting on February 24th, 10 days after his death, that “The Al-Madhoun family asks for nothing more than their basic right: to have their son back, to hold him one last time, and to bury him with the dignity befitting a child who knew nothing of the world but war and death. The Al-Madhoun family demands that the Red Cross and Civil Defense teams be allowed to retrieve his body, so he can return to his family instead of remaining lying in the road.”
Karim’s cousin Niveen Almadhoun mourned his loss, writing, “My cousin is in God’s care,” and offered patience to his uncle Abed Abu Kareem and aunt Umm Kareem. The official page of the Al-Madhoun family also mourned the loss of their child family member.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the attack to the Israeli military.
