Two men and a child were killed by alleged Israeli shelling during the night of February 15, 2026 in the Al-Hawka area in the centre of Jabalia Refugee Camp, Gaza.
Mahmoud Al Sharif reported that the bodies of three people from the Zaqoul family, including a child, arrived at Al-Shifa Medical Complex after they had been killed by Israeli shelling near Ajouz bakery in the centre of Jabalia Refugee Camp. They were identified as: 50-year-old Mahmoud Abdel Jawad Zaqoul, 37-year-old Mahmoud Ali Nimr Zaqoul, and his nine- or 10-year-old son Muhammad Mahmoud Ali Zaqoul. A post from @Qadeyah1 includes an image of a middle-aged man sitting in a chair and another image of a young man and a young boy smiling in a selfie.
A Facebook post from the account “Sons of Jabalia camp” memorialised the “shining stars of Jabalia Camp” and named the members of the Zaqoul family. Ahmed Zaqoul, in addition to mourning his relatives, stated that Muhammad was Mahmoud Ali’s only son who made him a father after ten years of marriage. Relative Mohanad Abu Alaish, who described spending time during the war together, expressed the hardships the family faced: “They witnessed the unbearable and tasted the indescribable pain and horrors of war. The days were not easy for them, and the nights did not pass peacefully… but they persevered, remained steadfast, and were the pride of men and the dearest of companions.” Rahma Abood wished that Ramadan would make the family’s “gatherings stronger, not weaker,” and “would come with us all together, laughing wholeheartedly, breaking our fast together, and feeling the house filled with life and spirit.” With the death of her uncle, Mahmoud, there was now “an irreplaceable void.”
A video posted by @ShehabAgency shows blankets wrapping the bodies of the three victims, described as “torn to pieces.” @PalinfoAr and other local sources stated that the bodies were recovered a day after they had been killed.
The ages of victims have been found by cross-checking names against lists of fatalities shared online by Genocide in Gaza, which has a list of “martyrs” of Israeli forces.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the attack to the Israeli military.
