The martyrdom of the daughter of the family, Ahlam Riyad Abu Sabla, and her children: Yasser Saadi Abdel Aal, Muhammad Saadi Abdel Aal, Masa Saadi Abdel Aal, Omar Saadi Abdel Aal, Shahd Saadi Abdel Aal, Taqwa Saadi Abdel Aal, Nour Saadi Abdel Aal, and Mira Saadi Abdel Aal. Congratulations to them on their martyrdom. It was God's will that they be chosen as martyrs in this blessed month. We ask God to accept them among the martyrs, to forgive them, and to grant them spacious gardens in Paradise.

I also pray for the speedy recovery of our mother, Umm Adham, his wife, Umm Muhammad, and the martyr's wife, Umm al-Baraa, after they were injured in the treacherous bombing last night. May God grant you patience and reward you for your loss, and may He heal your wounded.

On January 17, 2024, Israeli occupation forces committed a flagrant violation of the sanctity of the dead by bulldozing and destroying the Austrian Quarter Cemetery, located west of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, near the Jordanian Field Hospital and Nasser Medical Complex. The occupation forces used military bulldozers to destroy graves and crush headstones. They also exhumed a number of graves and stole bodies from them, in a scene that sparked widespread outrage among local residents. Israel justified this action by claiming to have “intelligence information” indicating the possible presence of the remains of Israeli prisoners in the cemetery, asserting that the operation aimed to recover their remains. However, these claims lacked credibility, especially given the recurrence of similar violations in other cemeteries in the Gaza Strip. These actions constitute a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, which criminalizes the desecration of graves and the tampering with the bodies of the dead, and add to a long list of crimes that warrant international accountability.

في 17 يناير 2024، ارتكبت قوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلي انتهاكًا صارخًا بحق حرمة الموتى، حيث أقدمت على تجريف وتدمير مقبرة الحي النمساوي الواقعة غرب مدينة خان يونس، جنوب قطاع غزة، بالقرب من المستشفى الميداني الأردني ومجمع ناصر الطبي. استخدمت قوات الاحتلال جرافات عسكرية لتدمير القبور وسحق شواهدها، كما قامت بنبش عدد من القبور وسرقة جثامين منها، في مشهد أثار سخطًا واسعًا بين السكان المحليين. بررت إسرائيل هذا العمل بوجود “معلومات استخباراتية” تشير إلى احتمال وجود جثث أسرى إسرائيليين في المقبرة، زاعمة أن العملية تهدف إلى استعادة رفاتهم. إلا أن هذه الادعاءات لم تكن محل مصداقية خاصة في ظل تكرار مثل هذه الانتهاكات في مقابر أخرى بقطاع غزة. تُعد هذه الأفعال انتهاكًا صارخًا للقانون الدولي الإنساني، الذي يجرّم تدنيس المقابر والعبث بجثث الموتى، وتُضاف إلى سجل طويل من الجرائم التي تستوجب المساءلة والمحاسبة الدولية.​
