On May 11, 2023, in the evening two people were allegedly wounded as a result of a rocket attack in the Sdot Negev region which borders Gaza. The Jewish Press, as well as some social media posts, reported that the rocket landed at the entrance to a private home in the region requiring medics to treat an 82 year old woman who had suffered from shrapnel wounds and a 90 year old male who was experiencing emotional shock.

A statement released by the organisation, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, claimed responsibility for another attack that day in Rehovot but there was no specific claim made for this rocket.
