At least two civilians were reported killed and between four and six civilians were injured in alleged Russian airstrikes on Binin, Idlib, on August 20th.
@ShahbaPress tweeted that “two civilians [were] martyred and wounded due to an airstrike by Russian occupation aircraft on the village of Binin south of Idlib.”
Syria Civil Defense stated that “a child and a man were killed and four others were injured, including two women from the same family, as a result of a Russian airstrike on Tuesday, targeting the outskirts of the town of Binin”.
Similarly, @ShahbaPress reported that “a child and a young man were killed and two women and two men were injured in a new toll due to airstrikes on the town of Binin in the southern countryside of Idlib at dawn on Tuesday.”
Halab Today cited the death of two children and Anadolu Agency also reported two children were killed and six civilians were wounded.
Macro Media Center named the girl killed as Jana Abdul Latif Harami, and Justice Organisation named her brother, “a young man”, killed as Hussein Abdellatif Harami.
All other sources referred to “wounded civilians”, which, according to Edlib Media Center, included children. As understanding of events unfolded, cited figures for injury rose from one, to four to five from the same family.
A tweet from @la1mea referred to the area struck as “a farm containing displaced persons.” Anadolu Agency also pointed out that the strikes occurred in a residential neighborhood in the “de-escalation”zone.
An image posted by @zamanalwsl shows the damage to buildings from the airstrikes and a wounded man being carried by rescuers. A tweet from @jisrtv reported that “civilians were wounded and trapped under the rubble as a result of air strikes” and a tweet from @NEDAAPOST specified that two people were trapped under the rubble. A video posted by @NEDAAPOST shows White Helmets rescuing a teenage boy from the rubble.
According to a tweet from @abd9722, Russia used “high-explosive concussion missiles that have an earthquake impact on farms in Benin Forest.”
Almost all of the sources attributed the attack to Russian forces. However, @syr_television and @ZaitunAgency referred to “Assad’s airstrikes,” indicating that the regime was responsible, and Syrian Network for Human Rights blamed the Syrian regime for the airstrike.
The incident occured around dawn.
