On December 17th 2022, at least three civilians, including a child, were reportedly killed and between one to three were injured by a Turkish drone strike on a group of civilians in Raqas village, in Tel Abyad district, Al-Raqqa province. The media center of the Syrian Democratic Forces said the incident occurred at 1:30 p.m.

Sources identified the child killed as Wesi Muhammad Wesi, 10-12 years old. SOHR claimed that the strike targeted a car driving by a SDF military position. Only SOHR mentionned “information about the death of an unidentified fourth person”, without further precisions. ANHA added that in total, three were killed and one injured. Sources recorded between one to three injured. The injured were taken to hospitals in Al-Raqqa city for treatment.

Reports of the incident mention the village of Raqas (رقاص), allegedly located north-west of Tell Abyad (تل ابيض). Due to limited satellite imagery and information available to Airwars, we were unable to verify the location further. The generic coordinates for Tell Abyad are: 36.693096, 38.950612.
