On Friday afternoon, March 8, 2024, two civilians, 40-year-old father Muhammad Talib Humaidan and his youngest son, 17-year-old Talib Muhammad Humaidan were seriously injured while they were working in a field as a consequence of an alleged Turkish artillery attack in the village of Sheikh Issa close to the city of Tal Rifaat in the northern countryside of Aleppo, the Al-Shahba area, Syria.
Hawar News reported on the incident, stating that: “The two injured are: The father, Muhammad Talib Humaidan (40 years old), was injured by shrapnel in the abdomen with the intestine coming out, and by shrapnel in the right thigh, and the child, Talib Muhammad Humaidan (17 years old), was injured in the left kidney.” They were transferred to Afrin Hospital in the Fafin district to receive treatment, and their condition was reported as critical.
Facebook account of Human Rights Organization – Afrin shared pictures that they associated with the incident. The pictures showed two males – one older and one younger – laying on individual stretchers while healthcare workers treated their wounds. Most notable was a picture showing an older man lying on his side, with his left abdomen showing. Another person was seen putting a bandage on his body, while his white gloves were covered with dried-up blood.
All the sources, when they identified the belligerent, referred to the Turkish military as responsible for the attack.
